Cynthia C. Lees (1960-present) was born in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was raised by professional parents—a physicist and a social worker—to value the worth of every individual. She lived in the suburbs of Boston for 48 years and taught middle school English Language Arts before moving to Middle Tennessee. She was active in LGBT+ rights issues beginning in the mid-1980s volunteering and teaching a social justice curriculum. In 2010 she began serving a Nashville church with an active social justice ministry. As a consultant to the Massachusetts Department of Correction in the 1990s, she wrote and piloted two curricula to effect behavioral change using writing and literature while editing a book for the American Correctional Association under Cynthia L. Blinn. Later, she wrote under Cynthia L. Winfield, before reverting to Cynthia C. Lees. She is passionate about education and educating people so they can navigate life with grace, peace, health, and joy. Always, she writes to empower others with the knowledge and tools necessary to live a joyful life. She resides in Eastern Kentucky where she lives a life of gratitude and service, publishing new and old works to Kindle Vella.
