Award-winning author Donna Dechen Birdwell is an anthropologist whose curiosity about what makes human beings tick propelled her to travel widely and think deeply, listening to the stories of many different cultures and eventually coming up with a few stories of her own. Her latest novel is BOOK OF ALL TIME, the second volume in her far future science fiction series, EARTHCYCLES, which launched with SONG OF ALL SONGS in 2020. Birdwell has also published NOT KNOWING (the story of an archaeologist digging through her own obscure past) and three volumes of the near-future science fiction RECALL CHRONICLES - WAY OF THE SERPENT, SHADOW OF THE HARE, and FLIGHT OF THE OWL. Birdwell's work is deeply influenced by the stories and imagery of the places she came to know as an anthropologist, including Belize, Costa Rica, Ireland, India, and Nepal. She is an artist, poet, and photographer as well as a novelist. She holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from Southern Methodist University and previously taught at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. She now writes, paints, and photographs in Austin.
