Tatsha Robertson was born in Boston, but raised in South Carolina, hailing from one of the oldest black and white families in the Upcountry. She's an award-winning multimedia editor and writer with more than twenty years of experience handling investigative, feature, and news stories for leading magazines, social media outlets, and newspapers. She was the first female New York City bureau chief and national rover for the Boston Globe. The Boston Globe’s Spotlight team both acknowledged Tatsha’s help the day they won the Pulitzer for their stories on church sex abuse and mentioned her in the acknowledgements of their book. As deputy editor at Essence and interim managing editor of Essence.com, she pioneered Essence magazine’s focus on investigative and news articles. Her work there, including her interview on parenting with former president Barack Obama, led to the positioning of the magazine as a significant authority and voice on news. Most recently, she was a senior editor of crime at People, where she led a team of veteran reporters on many major national stories. She also coauthored the true crime work Media Circus (BenBella, 2015), with Kim Goldman. The founder of the Ordinary Genius Blog, Tatsha holds a master’s degree in journalism from The Ohio State University and has been an adjunct professor of journalism at New York University since 2005. Along with other writing and social media projects, Tatsha has nearly completed a speculative medical/religious thriller she’s been writing in the WriteWorkshop in New York City. She lives Weehawken, New Jersey, with her husband, Nico.
