Story
The online phenomenon taking over the world, ASMR, or autonomous sensory meridian response, is a form of sound healing often described as ‘brain tingles’. With psychological benefits similar to mindfulness and meditation, it can make you feel sleepy, relaxed and totally present in the moment. Unwind Your Mind reveals how you too can use its quiet power to find calm in a busy world. In this practical guide ASMRtist Emma WhispersRed takes you through the three stages of ASMR awareness: how to connect with objects, notice their sounds and use them to empty your mind.

Story
When Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm published their Children's and Household Tales in 1812, followed by a second volume in 1815, they had no idea that such stories as "Rapunzel", "Hansel and Gretel", and "Cinderella" would become the most celebrated in the world. Yet few people today are familiar with the majority of tales from the two early volumes, since in the next four decades the Grimms would publish six other editions, each extensively revised in content and style.

Here, Natasha calls upon experts in the fields of psychology, neuroscience and anthropology to debunk and demystify the full spectrum of mental health, from A (Anxiety) to Z (Zero F*cks - the art of high self-esteem) via everything from body image and gender to differentiating 'sadness' from 'depression'.

Story
When Michelle Thomas suffered her first major depressive episode six years ago, she read and watched and listened to everything about mental health she could get her hands on in an effort to fix herself. God, it was tedious. And, quite frankly, depressing. Which is the last thing she needed. What she did need was a therapist who would listen and offer a wellness strategy catered to her specific needs. What she got was advice to watch a few YouTube videos and a cheerful reminder that 'it could be worse'.

Summary
Due to its ability to deeply relax the mind and body, ASMR has become a source of calm and pleasure for millions. Listen and see if it triggers your autonomous sensory meridian response, a tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. For the best listening experience, we recommend listening to these tracks wearing headphones.

Weird and disturbing
I'm pretty sure this wasn't the intention, but it had shades of 50 Shades. Creepy shades.
The listener gets sent to an office and has their *homework* checked by the narrator (boss? teacher? sex line operator?), and there's some borderline fetishistic description of fairly random stuff he's keeping in his office, and we do admin. He has what sounds like a really old inkjet printer, and a thing about stationery.
He's talking slowly, low in the register, and slurring some of his consonants; I think it's meant to be relaxing, but it made my hindbrain deeply uncomfortable. I'm going to have nightmares about a Dom with a secretary fantasy spiking my water now.

A bit Creepy
Sorry, but I'm familiar with ASRM and soundscapes but this was, particularly the tailor, weird and creepy and the end of the tailor is really sinister and had the opposite of sending me to sleep. The actual sounds of the paper rustling etc was very restful, it's the freaky whispering and the two different volume levels that put me off.Had to delete it so I couldn't listen to it by accident again!

Irritating
For some reason, I found these recordings ( the office, the tailor, the mother and the dressing room) intensely annoying right from the start...like listening to somebody whispering, which I also find irritating... perhaps it's just me. Two stars for very good audio quality,. but otherwise unlistenable...I felt the need to completely remove them, which took a bit of messing about within my Amazon account...at least I learned how to do that as a result!

Love Live ASMR!
I have long been a fan of ASMR and I am so happy to see it in a more main stream setting. It is either something you get or you don't but for those of us who do it is amazing. If you like everyday sounds such as the hairdryer, paper, typing and fabric rustling then it's worth a try. By focusing on the sounds it helps calm down your thoughts and if you are lucky enough to experience the tingles it will open up a whole new world in relaxation!

Interesting approach by developing a cocoon of familiar(ish) sounds, but I found the narration more disturbing than relaxing.
