Summary

Bloomsbury presents Agent Zigzag by Ben Macintyre, read by Peter Wickham.

One December night in 1942, a Nazi parachutist landed in a Cambridgeshire field. His mission: to sabotage the British war effort.

His name was Eddie Chapman, but he would shortly become MI5's Agent Zigzag. Dashing and suave, courageous and unpredictable, Chapman was by turns a traitor, a hero, a villain and a man of conscience. But, as his spymasters and many lovers often wondered, who was the real Eddie Chapman?

Ben Macintyre weaves together diaries, letters, photographs, memories and top-secret MI5 files to create an exhilarating account of Britain's most sensational double agent.

Superb, as usual

Ben is the master of spy stories. And Excellent narration by Peter Wickham. Once you start listening you can’t switch to another. My favourite time to listen is while ironing- so much to spouse’s astonishment I am always diligent about the ironing now- but of course i can’t seem eager about it.😁 now looking for the next Ben! Have to ration myself.

Brilliant

The book was captivating from start to finish. Macintyre is brilliant at telling things in detail without making it boring, and the narrator made it pleasant to listen to, he was excellent.

amazing!!!

I was fascinated by this idea and a bit sceptical but as I listened I became more interested and in the end I was completely into the characters. Eddie Chapman was a complete villain and his history was very well documented. The story has so much historical support and all the characters really existed. A real winner of a book that I'll probably listen to again after I've stopped boring all my friends with snippets of it and trying to get them to get the book themselves. Many thanks

A fantastic read!

It's hard to believe that a facinating character like Eddie Chapman truly existed.
The book was beautifully written and exceptionally narrated by Peter Wickham. A masterpiece in my opinion. I was hooked from start to finish.

Fab book

Loved it but the recording is pretty quiet. Didn’t stand up to the noise of the underground. Brilliant nonetheless.

Extraordinary story

If this had been a fictional novel it would have seemed preposterous as the exploits of Eddie Chapman were so outlandish. It makes for a highly entertaining book made all the better by an excellent narrator.
