Summary
One of the most highly regarded Tier One Delta Force operators in American military history shares his war stories and personal battle with PTSD.
As a senior non-commissioned officer of Delta Force, the most elite and secretive special operations unit in the US military, Command Sergeant Major Tom Satterly fought some of this country's most fearsome enemies. Over the course of 20 years and thousands of missions, he's fought desperately for his life, rescued hostages, killed and captured terrorist leaders, and seen his friends maimed and killed around him.
All Secure is in part Tom's journey into a world so dark and dangerous that most Americans can't contemplate its existence. It recounts what it is like to be on the front lines with one of America's most highly trained warriors. As action-packed as any fiction thriller, All Secure is an insider's view of "The Unit".
Tom is a legend even among other Tier One special operators. Yet the enemy that cost him three marriages, and ruined his health physically and psychologically, existed in his brain. It nearly led him to kill himself in 2014; but for the lifeline thrown to him by an extraordinary woman it might have ended there. Instead, they took on Satterly's most important mission - saving the lives of his brothers and sisters in arms who are killing themselves at a rate of more than 20 a day.
Told through Satterly's firsthand experiences, it also weaves in the reasons - the bloodshed, the deaths, the intense moments of sheer terror, the survivor's guilt, depression, and substance abuse - for his career-long battle against the most insidious enemy of all: post-traumatic stress. With the help of his wife, he learned that by admitting his weaknesses and faults he sets an example for other combat veterans struggling to come home.

Not an ordinary book
Amongst the myriad of military book's you could so easily pass this by and I'm glad I didn't.
it's the best book I have listened to, gripping, honest and highly thought provoking.
Don't pass it by.

Excellent book!
I really enjoyed this book and thoroughly recommend it. The author narrated it so well which was a bonus. Those who serve to protect us give up so much and should receive far more support in their mental health - especially at the end of their service careers. Loved the book.

Amazingly truthful
Very open book, where the desire, pain to get to the elite comes with the cost of his very self!
The journey to regain himself and his centre is the hardest mission of his life…this time without instructions or support.
We need more of these honest and open people to make the changes to a broken system!

A story that all veterans need to hear
This was an incredible story. Listening to Tom tell the horrors of what he went through, but so factually and dispassionately, it really brings home how surreal the ask is on warriors. But the real learning, and one I had experience with, was the lack of after-care, or how badly mental health is understood, by the military. I really hope Tom's foundation makes real improvements in this regard.

Amazing
Very powerful. Gripping combat stories but also impactive around Mental Health and the effects of it. I smashed through this Audiobook and would re-listen to it in the future!

Great book from a real Hero
Great book, great recount of Tom’s life. So many things people don’t realise what actually happens in war and out of war just protecting their own day to day existence. And of course the unfortunate toll that the soldiers pay to keep us in our comfortable lives, a toll that cannot ever be rewarded. We owe it to them to listen at the very bare minimum.
The book is well read by Tom at a good pace and keeps you gripped until the end.
He is very honest in himself.
More surprisingly I found myself adjusting some views I had taken on various actions taken around the world! Everyone can condemn actions until they see the reality of the situation, and nobody ever really wants to see that!!! People just love to take the moral high ground from the top down view - when the problem starts at the bottom going up.
Thanks Tom,
And good luck with the All secure foundation, I for one will be supporting you and wishing you the best.
