About this listen

Amy Winehouse needs no introduction. A critically acclaimed recording artist, she touched millions with her music during her short but extraordinary life.

Following her tragic death in July 2011, Mitch Winehouse wants to tell her incredible story in full. “Amy, My Daughter” will take the reader through her mischievous early years, her rise to stardom and to her much publicised struggles with addiction. The book will bring the many layers of her life together – the personal, the private and the public – to create a fitting tribute to his much loved daughter.

Using exclusive extracts from his personal diary, Mitch discusses shocking and concerning events in his daughters life that will tug at the heartstrings of Amy’s fans across the globe.

Featuring never-before-seen photos of Amy, taken from the family album, “Amy, My Daughter” promises to be the definitive account of an iconic figure who, although tragically taken at an early age, has left a musical legacy that will enthral audiences for many years to come.

All proceeds from the book will be donated to The Amy Winehouse Foundation, the charity that Mitch has established in Amy’s name to help children and young adults facing difficulty and adversity in their lives.

'OUR AMY'

Would you listen to Amy, My Daughter again? Why?

yes, once one gets over their 'prejudices' , mine was 'it's a bit slushy' , but when i thought about it, i thought 'why not?', if only on the basis that she was the target for many hiding their own inadequacies, she was 'easy' inasmuch as so called 'polite society' could 'dis' her without much comeback, i'm thinking of the episode of 'HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU' with CLARE BALDING, who stepped out of satire into downright, and revealing, abuse of Amy's character...so, in short, there were enough out there, particularly amongst the 'media', waiting to have a pop at Amy

What did you like best about this story?

the LOVE comes thru once you allow it

What does Mitch Winehouse and Rupert Farley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

mitch, well his love for his daughter, instances from her childhood, Amy, i think, would have wanted it THIS WAY

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

all of it

Any additional comments?

we still don't know the effect Amy will have on the WORLD music scene, where she is loved, i suspect we have seen the passing of one of our best musicians, in the style of one of our other GREATEST, also vilified by the ENGLISH but a LEGEND IN HER OWN TIME as IS Amy...I hope there's more to come from her, and as extra, the cash goes to the Amy Winehouse foundation

Heartfelt father and daughter relationship

Would you consider the audio edition of Amy, My Daughter to be better than the print version?

I woild consider the audio edition better than print version as audio has Amy's Dad on epilogue and prologue.

What did you like best about this story?

This was cowritten from the perspective of someone closest to the subject. It is a true story and I enjoyed Mitch's very honest account of events.

What does Mitch Winehouse and Rupert Farley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Rupert Farley is an excellent narator. I often found myself believing this was Mitch's voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it would

A great read about an icon who is sadly missed. Where the papers made me believe she was in such distress before she died, you find out the truth about how she was on the road the recovery,a very brave girl who fought with her demons.I believe we all have our date written when we go....she lived life to the full and lives on in her music.x
