「人間とは何か」「人生とはいかにあるべきか」「人間として何が正しいのか」……人間としての本質は、洋の東西を問わず同じはずであると考える著者。本書は、京セラが1990年に買収したアメリカの電子部品メーカーAVX社の幹部との勉強会をベースに、著者の経営哲学を平易に語ったもの。当初は、著者の考えに否定的だったアメリカ人たちだが、やがて著者の経営哲学を理解し、経営に活かすようになる。その結果、AVX社の業績は飛躍的に伸び、95年にはニューヨーク株式市場に再上場を果たす。すなわち、「人間として正しいことを追求すれば、人間は自ずと成功する」という著者の哲学がアメリカでも実証されたのである。
