Story
Legions of self-help authors rightly urge personal development as the key to happiness, but they typically fail to focus on its most important objective: hardiness. Though that which doesn't kill us can make us stronger, as Nietzsche tells us, few authors today offer any insight into just how to springboard from adversity to strength. It doesn't just happen automatically, and it takes practice. New scientific research suggests that resilience isn't something with which only a fortunate few of us have been born, but rather something we can all take specific action to develop.

Useful material, abysmal delivery
You know how it can be weird listening to a song where the lyrics don't match the tone/melody of the music? Like the lyrics don't really mean anything and they are only there to deliver a melody? That's what this audiobook is like.
The narrator has a specific tone and melody that they are determined to apply to every single sentence, and whatever the words mean is irrelevant. Some words get emphasized for no reason whatsoever. Some words get streched out. It seems that the narrator doesn't even know what the word is still midway into pronouncing the word.
I switched the speed to 1.5 to hide some of this, but it was still very hard to listen. I would absolutely not recommend this as an audiobook. I'm pretty sure that the material is quite good in written form. But even there this book seems to be lacking depth. I know some of the concepts and exercises are really good, but the superficial way they are presented don't make it very likely to be properly applied here.

Dry Delivery
I tried to give the book a chance but had to quit halfway into Chapter 4 as I realized that none of what I had been hearing was sticking. The reason for that is the narrator speaks in a detached drone similar to that of a news anchorman. While that may work for news delivery, where listeners move from one sentence to the next without much investment, the same cannot be said for this audiobook, where one would need to fully focus on what is being said. Funny enough, I bought this hoping to learn CBT to help with my ADHD but forcing myself to focus on this was just painful.
Tldr; Might be better to get the printed version of this book instead

I chose this after much looking on amazon for a genuine practical and ballanced book in this subject, which is an ocean. So glad i chose this one and now ive gone through it once i can start again practically putting these gems into place with the helpfull know how and why. I was once sceptical of this area of therapy but now im not because ive realised that it will benefit me for my own emotional, cognitive and daily life needs to be a more healed, balanced and whole one as i allow Jesus and Holy Spirit to work on, in, through and for me for me to live fruitfull with vitality, meaning and joy. He led me to this book and to the HNC Counselling course im also on with Destiny College, Glasgow. Thankyou to the author for being humble and virtuouse reaching out to many in such need of being poor within and to my amazing heavenly Father and friend in Jesus my good shephard, healer, deliverer, saviour, shalom, protection, provider, teacher and victory over chaos, death and rebelliiuse wrong living and thinking. Hes the Lord over all, from where my help comes so whom should i be afraid!? I pray The Lover of our souls visits, speaks, reveals, touches, heals and saves your souls and lives too. John3:16. Saved my life
I have always been skeptical of how CBT can be effective for treating depression. I have been on and off anti-depressants, self medicating with alchohol and financially irresponsible due to my partying habits. I was slowly falling into deep depression with no clear purpose in life. After listening to the first few chapters of the audiobook I picked up a notebook and a pen and decided to start putting in even more free time to do some of the homework and worksheets the book provides. By the end of the book I realized that anti-depressants where only a temporary cure , partying and bad financial habits are the main reason of my mental downfall. Also I have found new hobbies that I love and I became more financially responsible.I also feel like I can see colors again which is a clear sign the depression is gone. This book has worksheets and exercises that make understanding CBT and applying it by oneself easy, fun and not too time consuming. I advise anyone willing to explore CBT for depression , anger or anxiety to consider getting this book.

Loved this audible book. I took my time with it by listening to each chapter twice, and making the summaries the second time listening. The aim is not to get through the book quickly, but to really apply each chapter.
I’m now listening to the book for the second time and adding to my summaries and information recorded.

Who chose this style of narration?
This is my first incursion into CBT. Half way in, I like the content. But whose idea was it to select a 1960's Cold War newscaster inflection style? It makes it painful to listen to, as it's so out of character in the 21st century. I makes it sound like the narrator is making fun of the content. I have to abstract that in order to focus on the material!

Where are the goodies?
The biggest problem I have with audible is the inability to access supplemental images and documents and other resources provided in the print version of the book, particularly in nonfiction. Can't a downloadable file or url be provided for accessing these files after purchase? The author refers to these items throughout the book and I just kept wondering what was the point of listening. Disappointed and annoyed.

Great quick walk-through of CBT in a book.
Awesome, guided workbook of CBT w examples.
This is a no-nonsense, nuts-and-bolts approach to your mind with no excuses left behind after several serious examples of life stressors piling up and how to not let them knock you down.
Easier than an intimidating, larger, theory-filled books. Not overly inundated w psych 101, just enough to do the CBT.
You must do the homework to enjoy the full benefit, but listening to the audiobook percolates enough though to start a touch of therapy in every chapter.
