Summary

John, Chris, and Erik are neighbors in the quaint subdivision of the Creeks of Sage Valley, Phase II. The three men happily live the typical suburban family life. Their only real problems have been with each other and the draconian rules of the HOA. But, all that changes when the dead rise from their graves and walk the Earth.

Now, they must reluctantly join together to survive the spreading apocalypse and find their families. Personal fears, long buried secrets, and their own personalities threaten to tear the group apart as they make their way across the zombie-ridden landscape in Dads vs. Zombies.

a decent enough story, brilliantly read by Phil Thron as usual, quite amusing. One of the better zombie novels

Awesome sarcasm humor

Really fun and existing story with PERFECT performance made by Phil Thron! Sarcasm humor mixed with apocalyptic horror (ok not really horror but zombies)
I loved it!

Just perfect (especially if you’re a dad)

Just finished book 1 and totally enjoyed the audiobook. Phil Thron is a genius narrator and can handle any book emphasising the humour and the characters, and he’s been given a cracking book to get us all stuck in to. As an old fart (over 50), and a huge comedy sci-fi/fantasy fan, Dads vs Zombies is not only a great story but had me in stitches not only with the Dad observations but also the rants by John that go on throughout the book. He is spot on. Just downloading book 2 as I type.

Read book 2 first

I loved both books. I would advise you to listen to book 2 first. It's not about zombies but its really funny, and it gives you a good idea of what each guy is like and their ralationships with each other. It will help you understand why they are together in the first book, and why you don't want to be stuck with any of them during a zombie apocalypse. This is not your usual zombie story, because nobody knows what the hell they are doing, and they mostly just wing it. Its really funny and the guys are totally clueless. Phil Thron brings the story and charcters to life. The "out-takes" at the end of book 2 made me laugh so much. It sounded like Phil Thron really enjoyed reading this one.

Dads vs Zombies

A most enjoyable story, I found quite by accident when looking for books narrated by Phil Thron.

Funny and Relatable

really loved this from the get go. yes the story isn't something of a Stephen King novel... but it is so relatable as a dad and extremely funny! wish there was a book 2

A very good book

First off the narration was very good, the guy does a few voices which helps separate the characters well in my opinion but his best portrayal is of John. At first I could not stand him, he just seem to have no common sense, continuing to do stupid things but the way the book is written and executed made me feel anger towards John only for me to root for him later, he becomes part of the fabric of this world, the narrators voice captured the essence of this man, how I would expect him to sound and act. I started off hating the guy but by half way through I loved the guy. The writer made me feel something, mainly frustration and anger towards that one character but the writer also made me like that character and I could visually see this world they lived in. Fantastic book, very good. 👍
