Summary

A thousand years ago, Tung, a young thief, awaits his execution. Alone in a cold dark dungeon, all hope is gone...until Madrick, the disgraced royal wizard, is thrown into the dungeon with him.

Madrick reveals an incredible secret about a legendary spell, a spell which helps them escape their prison cell, and eventually their century.

As strangers lost in today’s modern world, the great spell is the only thing that keeps them alive. They think they are finally safe, until the fateful day when they meet Michael, a computer hacker who plans to destroy the world’s largest bank.

What happens when ancient magic meets the internet, and what if the horrors from a thousand years ago are waiting for the time-travellers in the present day? One thing is certain, with ancient magic brought from the past, modern life will never be the same again.

Starts dreadfully but gets better

Actually this book has got a lot going for it and can be read on two levels: as a fun magic adventure story for kids, or a evil banking empire warning tale for adults.
The narration starts off very poorly but he does improve as the story progresses if you can stick with it.
Overall I almost turned this off several times early due to the narrator but was pleased that I stayed with it.

A good read, but...

It took way too long to get to the part that appealed to me in the first place.

A whimsical romp spanning a millennium

Is Ken Magee a modern Mark Twain? This book has the feel of "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" but reversed with a pair of hapless 10th Century protagonists thrust forward to the modern day bringing with them magic to a world ruled by science. It's exceptionally entertaining, humorous and hard to stop listening (seriously, I completed it the day I began it). Sebastian Brown's narration is excellent and I hope he has chance to narrate the rest of the series

A fun tale.

I was given a free copy of this book and I'm leaving an honest and voluntary review.
Firstly I'd have to say the narration of Tung was a bit like shouting the whole time.
That didn't take away the full enjoyment of this time travel story. The story itself is well written and nice thought out, delivering a great adventure with fun characters.
The narration as a whole was impeccable. I would recommend this its a great and fun story.
