Summary

Sookie Stackhouse enjoys her life, mostly. She's a great cocktail waitress in a fun bar; she has a love life, albeit a bit complicated, and most people have come to terms with her telepathy. The problem is, Sookie wants a quiet life - but things just seem to happen to her and her friends.

Now her brother Jason's eyes are starting to change: he's about to turn into a were-panther for the first time. She can deal with that, but her normal sisterly concern turns to cold fear when a sniper sets his deadly sights on the local changeling population. She's afraid not just because Jason's at risk, but because his new were-brethren suspect Jason may be the shooter.

Sookie has until the next full moon to find out who's behind the attacks - unless the killer decides to find her first.

Dead as a doornail

This is book 5 of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Someone seems to have it in for the local shifter population, and Sookie has until the next full moon to discover the culpret. This has all the Charlaine Harris trademarks; plenty of action, mystery and romance, and the characters fans have come to know and love. A great addition to the series.

better then the last book

enjoyable listen. delves more into hotshot and shifter/were story lines. Bill is thankfully barely in it. Eric is around a fair bit still. there's a lot of courting and flirting behaviour in this book and not as much rough and tumble action.

Author having an off couple of months

Narrator fantastic as always. The book was awful and boring. I hope this isn't what the books will be like from here on out. snore

An Imaginative World Where Vampires Exist

I have a confession...I read the Sookie Stackhouse series loooong ago. I devoured the books as a younger reader, I fell in love with characters, I wanted to live in Bon Temps. And that's what I look for in a book at any age. I want to be spirited away from my life and into someone elses.

X number of years on, I use the audiobooks to fall asleep to. The stories, whilst imaginative, aren't going to win any literary prizes. The style is "American", it is aimed at younger readers, it does have some laughable lines (the sex scenes will make you cringe) - but I can't help but love them.

great series

great series of books with great characters. I loved the Midnight Texas series and the Sookie series is just as good but rather raunchy for tweens but fine for adults.

recording quality

a bit too much background noise at times recording did seem as good as others in series.

The story that keeps surprising

Another totally absorbing story that seductively draws you into the lurid world of Ms Stackhouse. The other world is so intisingly revealed that you just cannot stop trying to take a peep.

I really love this series. I was disappointed with the TV series now hearing the books on audible love it. The accent and pace are perfect. Well done
