Summary

As Kingfall’s fuse burns ever closer to the powder keg of all-out war, the secrets of the godblades are slowly unsheathed.

In Travail, Dane and Peony face usurpers and a scheme by those seeking to overthrow the dragon throne, forcing Peony to flee to Solarii with Daneus to request help from the Dead King. In Teravainen, Jarrod must face his demons and learn how to rule in the wake of his father’s murder. When the darkblades are stolen, he is forced to ride south seeking retribution, while a newly graduated mage named Quill is sent by Aeromand to investigate.

Meanwhile, as Amari begins her search for Sampson, her path crosses that of another lost soul in the unlikeliest of places. And when Ando leads his hardy band of misfit soldiers into Solarii, an unexpected enemy is there waiting for him. Looming in the darkness is a growing evil that threatens the entire continent, whether innocent or otherwise.

Need a break

After getting past godstown i really need a break from this book. characters where never the authors strong point but the story being told made up for it. parts of the story is still interesting as whats happens with the mages or to a less extend solari, but more and more of the story becomes the same as guidelines for modern fantasy writing, where both characters and story follows set templates for what may or may not be written, and more focus on flashy bits even if they make contradict what has been told before. worst eksample of this is the godstown chapter where after aizling murders 40 poeple for all to see and the town forgets all about it after the event, no consequences even though it was made very clear this town does not allow rules to be broken... godstown in general feels like its been outsourced.

By the Void this KingFall series is good!

Book 2 completed and on an almost parallel trajectory as the first book with great characters you value, descriptive settings and superb narration. Couple of small stumbling blocks in the story which can be forgiven as on the whole it’s very good. Great, easy listen which draws you back for more (when the opportunity arises!).

Absolutely amazing!

This was an absolutely amazing continuation of the story, which grasped hold of me from the very first page and held me hostage until the very end. It’s action packed, the world building and character development is wonderful, and the feels… Oh, where do I start? If you’re a fan of epic fantasy, and have not yet started reading this series, I suggest you grab the first book in this series and start now. Better yet, go read the “Fatemarked” series 1st, since it is set in the same world and before the “Kingfall” series.
