About this listen

Paul and Mikey are on the run, apparently from the press surrounding their house after Mikey's release from prison. His crime: child murder, committed when he was a boy.

As they travel, they move from one disturbing scenario to the next, eventually involving themselves with a bizarre religious cult. The power between the brothers begins to shift, and we realise there is more to their history than Paul has allowed us to know.

Critic reviews

"Daniel Shand's debut is a brilliant, unpredictable road novel, curdled through with a unique descriptive lyricism. My Book of the Year." (Alan Warner)

Loved Fallow and now I want more Daniel Shand

I'm no one for writing detailed reviews, aww I'm saying is, if you like what I like you'll love this.
What I like in regards to Fallow:
1. Scottish setting
2. Murder, thriller and suspense
3. Scottish narrator (Angus King is one of, if not THE, very best)
4. Interesting, twisting story and well-written characters
5. You're thinking about the book long after you've finished listening to it.
6. You want to listen to more by the same author.

Bizarre story of murder and mayhem.

Keeps you guessing to what is going on all the way to the end. Well read by the narrator.

enjoyable

I was 100% committed as soon as I started listening and wanted to know more. enjoyed it up until a certain point, which was a bit nuts, and after that it was a bit predictable. definitely worth a listen though

Good, funny at times and a wee bit weird

The story started off well, but felt it got a wee bit far fetched as it went on, although I still enjoyed it. Angus King's narration was superb as always. I could listen to him narrating the alphabet and would still not get bored!

What a find!

Found this as I was looking for books narrated by Angus King (check out the JD Kirk books), and I'm so glad this one came up!

Brilliant story, expertly told!

Highly recommended.

Awesome!

I found this book whilst searching for books read by Angus King as he is just simply the best narrator ever. This is one of those books that once you start listening, you cant stop. The author obviously has a great talent for inventing characters who elicit all kinds of feelings. I thoroughly loved this book and im now off to find his other books!

What????

Angus King rescues a truly awful story.
It’s starts as a combination of If Mice and Men and Thelma & Louise and just gets more and more dark and twisted.
Not my usual read and wouldn’t seek another book by this author.
