Summary

Julian, Dick, Anne, George and Timmy the dog find excitement and adventure wherever they go in Enid Blyton's most popular series.

In book 10, Dick is woken by a light flashing through his window. Is someone trying to send him a coded message? When the Famous Five hear of an escaped convict in the area, they are on red alert.

The police won't help, so the Five have no choice - yet again, they'll be solving this mystery by themselves....

Captivating story...great performance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'd recommend any of these Famous Five audios recorded by the actress Jan Francis, but I think this one is a classic. Francis really brings these stories to life and does amazing voices for all the characters, she obviously loves these books - and it comes across. They are also good if you're looking for a title which spans across an age range-I've found my children of 4 and 7 have been captivated. Ideal for providing some quiet time, for kids and parents alike :).

Oh dear, wrong currency again....

Enjoyed largely but flinched when Dick left a pound coin on table, and groaned when George took out 5ps from her box...... It really spoils it, can't understand why just a few words of text need to be changed. It really jars and spoils an otherwise thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Exciting Adventure got the Five

Another great Famous Five audible book from the fabulous Enid Blyton and narrated by Jan Francis who is so good at the voices you soon know who is speaking. These books take me back to my childhood but i am still enjoying them as are my children and grandchildren ! It’s half term and Julian, Dick, George, Anne and Timmy the dog meet up to go for a nice quiet relaxing hike! Or will it? With escaped prisoner, villains, mysterious bells and who knows who else mixed up with kind shopkeepers and farmers wives who make delicious grub and don’t forget lashings of orangeade this time, well, who knows what will happen!! Don’t worry, the lashings of ginger beer comes at the end! Great book I highly recommend it and my favourite narrator.

What happens in the so called amazing book 📚?
Julian,Dick,George and Anne have had another mystery (can’t believe it) and went on a hike 🏃‍♀️ Dick and Anne tried to find the correct farmhouse but alas they did not and had to sleep 😴 🛏 in a barn then somebody came in and told Dick a message thinking it was his friend. They found a haunted house 🏚 and explored it they found a lake called Murky Waters 💦 and also found some loot 💰!!

enjoyable predictable romp, I prefer the BBC versions-the cast and narrator of those books are much more enjoyable.

This is a great book for kids

I loved the Famous Five when I was a kid. I remember going to the library in the hope of finding one that I hadn’t read. Now, of course, they are a bit tame. Nevertheless this was a good story and I can see how the adventures of these independent and adventurous children would have appealed to me. The are also kind and work together as a team which I find lovely. Like Treasure Island it’s a just plausible adventure. Mind you I find them a bit reckless and relying too much on the kindness of strangers. As a child I found Anne a drip now I think her a very sympathetic character and notice how she does a lot to solve the mystery. Mind you the boys are in charge which dates the work.
