Summary

Following his explosive #1 New York Times bestseller, Red Notice, Bill Browder returns with another gripping thriller chronicling how he exposed Vladimir Putin's campaign to steal and launder hundreds of billions of dollars from Russia—and how Putin is willing to kill anyone who stands in his way.

When Browder’s young Russian lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, was beaten to death in a Moscow jail in 2009, Browder cast aside his business career and made it his life’s mission to pursue justice for Sergei. One of the first steps of that mission was to uncover who had killed Sergei and profited from the $230 million corruption scheme that he had exposed. As Browder and his team tracked the money that flowed out of Russia—through the Baltics and Cyprus and on to Western Europe and the Americas—they discovered that Vladimir Putin himself was one of the beneficiaries of the crime.

After Western law enforcement agencies began freezing the money, Putin retaliated. He and his cronies set honey traps for Browder, hired agents to chase him around the globe, murdered more of Browder’s Russian allies, and enlisted some of the West’s top lawyers and politicians in an attempt to bring Browder down. Putin will stop at nothing to protect his wealth and power. As Freezing Order reveals, Browder’s campaign was a main impetus for Putin’s intervention in the 2016 US presidential election.

At once a financial caper, an international adventure, and a passionate plea for justice, Freezing Order is a stirring morality tale about how one man can take on one of the most dangerous and ruthless villains in the world.

An incredible story which we should all read!

We have all seen the headlines regarding Russia, Trump, Boris opening up London to oligarchs, poisonings, Salisbury, rigged elections, money laundering….This book connects the dots!

An unbelievable story exposing Russia.

Compelling! Every sane person on the planet has suspected Vladimir Putin of being a corrupt, power crazy thug. This book confirms what we have all though. What we didn't know is how complicit other countries, and especially banks, have been in his development!!!

Do not ignore

Everyone should read this (and Red Notice) and be alarmed. Political corruption fueled by dirty money will be our ruin.

I enjoyed this book immensely

Bear with this book if you have already read Red Notice . The initial couple of chapters are a recap of Red Notice but thereafter it is enthralling and would have been an unbelievable novel had it not been true. Ironically the world now knows the depravity of Putin and Bill Browder was initially a voice in the wilderness it should be basic reading for students of politics and law on how to fight corruption at all levels .Bravo Sergei and Bill

An exhausting listen

I can't give it any less than 5 but wow it was exhausting following what the author had been through. it has left me more than dismayed at what we are up against when dealing with Russia and other rogue states and corrupt government officials. Bill Browder often comes across as supremely self-confident and, dare I say it, a bit of an egotist, but it's this personality that has allowed him to survive and to push through the Magnitsky Act across many countries.

An important Red Notice sequel

A story of courage, persistence and some good fortune, dramatically told. Putin’s values, codes of conduct and oversight of a corrupt tyranny are documented here for all to see. Remarkably there are still those among us who are prepared to give him latitude.

2nd book syndrome

The trouble with this book, is Red Notice. Red Notice was an epic page turner. And any follow up has its work cut out. Sadly this falls short. It effectively overlaps Red Notice in the trials and tribulations of the authors fight to freeze the assets of Putin and his Oligarchs. I felt like I spent 10 hrs trying to differentiate one long complicated sounding Russian name from the next, and trying to figure out what their part to play in this story was. Goodie or Badie? I had no idea at one stage. Just glad to get through it all in the end.

The best book I have ever read.

I loved Red notice and this was even more thrilling. Pulls the cover off global kleptocracy.

Red Notice Part II —- The Empire Struck Out

Red Notice was going to be a hard act to follow. But Browder nimbly and grippingly did so. Not to say that the real life Bond Villains threatening him did not give him plenty of material to work with. These villains aren’t just Russians, either. Many are stateside … and one lived in the White House for four years. If you want to understand how Russia became a kleptocracy and why it’s attempting to control western governments through agitprop and assassination read (or listen to) Brower’s books. You will have a hard time putting them down (or turning the audio versions off).

A Must but start with Red Notice

Could not stop listening. It was eye opening and captivating. You should start by listening to Red Notice as this book is more or less a sequel.
Bill Browder is a man on a mission to avenge the death of Sergei Magnitsky. He is smart, courageous and determined.

Matches Red Notice excellence

There’s only one BIG issue with this book. You may find yourself listening cover to cover without stopping. Cheers to another amazing book, well written and timely.

Chilling, fascinating, powerful

Browder’s timely sequel to Red Notice is written with brutal honesty, uncovering sinister and illegal elements of many governments, particularly Purim’s Russia. Sadly some Americans are on this list; fortunately most are not. This non-fiction work is an audio “page turner.” Adam Grupper’s narration is flawless. I admire Browder’s tenacity and courage. I strongly recommend this book.

Truth is so powerful

In times that truth telling is so hard to come by, Freezing Order sets the bar. Although, I only know Bill through his books and the media, I can tell that he knows how to tie his moral shoelaces and carry the weight of doing the right things for his friends.
