Summary

Includes Bonus Chapter: 'In Conversation with Geoff Lloyd'

Good news: the solutions to our problems already exist.

Great news: a once-in-a-generation appetite for change means we can make them happen.

  •  How do we provide enough affordable housing for everyone?
  • How do we rein in the power of Big Tech?
  • How can we rebuild our broken politics? How do we tackle the climate crisis?
  • How do we really give people back control?

For the past four years, Ed Miliband has been discovering and interviewing brilliant people all around the world who are successfully tackling these problems, transforming communities and pioneering global movements. From a citizens' assembly in Mongolia to the UK's largest walking and cycling network in Greater Manchester, from flexible working in Finland to the campaign for the first halal Nando's in Cardiff, Go Big draws on the most imaginative and ambitious of these ideas to provide a vision for how to remake society.

The challenges we face are daunting, but in Go Big he shows that the scale of what is possible is far greater. We are at a rare moment in history when people everywhere see the need for big change. The future is not yet written. It's our job to write it.

Go Big shows us how.

Critic reviews

"Enthralling. I was left with such an unusual feeling that I didn't at first realise what it was, and then I remembered: optimism. I hope everyone with the slightest interest in the way the world works will read it." (Philip Pullman)

"Inspired and inspiring, Miliband calls upon us to rise to our challenges with courageous boldness." (Christiana Figueres, lead negotiator of the UN Paris Climate Agreement)

"Go Big should be the rallying cry of progressives around the world." (Rutger Bregman, author of Humankind)

A call to step forward and make a difference

Ed Milliband takes inspiration from examples around the world that we can shape our world differently. Prepare to be left in no doubt that change is desireable, achieveable and collectively in our grasp. Forget party politics and the odd awkward breakfast event and see how all of us can lead the future by acting in the present. Why not buy an extra copy of the book and leave it where others can read it?

Excellent book with inspirational ideas.

This is an excellent book with inspirational ideas and very good human stories. I was interested to see if the Labour thinkers had anything important to say and this book was certainly worth reading.

Good positive insight

A really intestining book. I'm by far politics lover, however this book tacked issues face on rather than typical debates seen on TV. Would recommend for anyone wanting to learn more about positive impacts we can make.

Inspirational book

Very good book with some good proposals for change. The anecdotes and stories of people who have already caused changes in society are very inspiring.

Go big... well worth a read

This is a great book, very accessible, with well developed arguments and definitely worth the time it takes to listen.
Ed is well versed in public policy but elected to go for an accessible version of his knowledge rather than listing theoretical politics.
Highly recommend to general readership and more specific audiences.

Great book with great ideas.

Love this book, well written and compellingly narrated. Wish these ideas were put forward by Labour. They might win me back after 2019.

I Did give a wry smile on the empowering voters section, when after 74% of Eds constituency voted leave but Ed abstained any Brexit vote to enact the instruction. So I guess its enact that will and empower the people, only if they agree with Ed 😂😂

But in all seriousness hearing this makes me appreciate and lament the quality of Labour of yesteryear... I hope they enact this thoughtful boldness and courage to take these thoughts forward. God knows the Uk needs them.
