Summary

We know that gut health is important. What and how you eat affects your energy levels, your brain function, how you feel, your work performance, your skin, your weight, how well you age and your long-term health. There isn’t much else in life under your control that has that kind of awesome power and all of these effects start with what happens in the gut.

At the same time, never before have we been so confused over what we should eat!

Dr Joanna McMillan cuts through the nonsense, bust the myths and misconceptions and translates the extraordinary emerging science of the gut and the gut-brain link, that explains just how your food choices impact your health and happiness. Each episode explains the everyday science, but also tells you exactly what you should be eating to improve your gut health.

Dr Joanna McMillan is one of Australia's favourite and most trusted health and wellbeing experts. She is a PhD qualified nutrition scientist and an accredited practising dietitian and has the natural ability to translate complex science into practical actions that will transform theory into achievement.

Awesome

Inspirational and thoroughly enjoyable. A great read which would add value to
the listener. Loved the mixing of snippets of actual interviews as part of the audio book . Would have been nice if there was a downloadable pdf summary accompanying this audiobook .

Patronising but probably quite interesting if you know nothing about healthy eating.

For someone who already knows about gut health, I thought this would be an interesting listen. I thought it would reinforce what I know and perhaps provide me with some new info too. I didn’t even get to the end of the first episode. The delivery comes across in a very patronising way, as if the listener doesn’t know the slightest thing about food and has been living off hamburgers and biscuits their entire life.

Very good.

Sufism is, for me, the acceptable face of Islam being peaceful and inspiring. This book does credit to that sect of Islam and it was so uplifting to hear the word LOVE mentioned so often. The analysis of the human condition was very acute and relevant to today’s culture of selfishness and banality. The narration was also excellent. I am so glad I listened to this audiobook. However, it is now time to return to my favourite spiritual leaders, Jesus and the Buddha, both of whom didn’t feel the need to personally wield a sword when spreading their word.

A great, quick listen to keep you inspired

Having enjoyed learning about all things gut health and diet in the last 12 months this podcast is a great addition. It’s length allows a quick morning reminder as to why our diet has such an influence on our health overall and it is delivered in a cheerful, lyrical, easy to listen way. Would love even more science (but I do have a science background) but completely get that this format means it is easy to understand by all unlike other similar podcasts which are data heavy!
