Summary
The final novel of the Kilo-Five Trilogy by number-one New York Times best-selling author Karen Traviss - part of the expanded universe based on the award-winning video game series Halo!
It's 2553. With the 30-year-long Covenant War finally over, the Office of Naval Intelligence faces old grievances rising again to threaten Earth. Angry and bitter colonists - still wanting to settle scores from an insurrection put on hold for three decades - crave justice...as does a man whose life was torn apart by ONI when his young daughter was abducted for the SPARTAN-II program. Black-ops squad Kilo-Five now find its collective loyalty tested beyond the breaking point when the father of their Spartan comrade, still searching for the truth about her disappearance, prepares to glass Earth’s cities to get an answer.
How far will Kilo-Five go to stop him? And will he be able to live with the truth when he finds it?
The painful answer lies with someone long dead and a conscience that still survives in the most unlikely, undiscovered place....

epic
very deep and thought provocative, with humour and wit. the main theme was more around the concept of humanity and secrets.

A fantastic end to a fantastic trilogy
This the final book in the kilo-five trilogy is probably my favourite audio book based in the halo universe to date. The story is not only well presented and performed but also has great pacing. Sure there are slightly drawn out and unnecessary chapters, mainly most of the Jackel pov, but overall a fantastic end to a fantastic trilogy. The relationships and differences between characters feels real and their decisions within the story feel accurate to the portrayal and history of each individual. overall a solid 10/10.

Absolutely amazing finish to a brilliant trilogy.
The performance once again was perfection and could not have been better! The story had everything and was a beautiful end to an amazing trilogy! I do not get emotional over stories, but the bond I had developed for the characters in the three books caught me by suprise nearing the end of the final chapters. I found myself emotional in every way imaginable, angry, sad, happy, relieved and most of all satisfied. All of this from a book on Halo my favourite video game... amazing peice of art and near perfection....

Best Halo book
This book is simply excellent. Well written with real depth to the storyline and it is the best Halo story I’ve heard … and I’ve listened to almost all of them. It is really well narrated and the character accents are very believable. I’ve listened to this 3 times now and wish there were more like it.

Well Performed Character Assassination
The book is well written and well performed but the constant Halsey bashing and everyone all having the same opinion gets a little stale.
Karen has a good style but forgets that sometimes just hearing 'Bloody INSERT THING SHE DOESNT LIKE' gets really boring. Spice it up. Play devils advocate, even if we agree it pays to see both sides.

Beyond what I hoped for.
Great audiobook and narration. A superb Halo novel and worth the time and effort to listen to and absorb the stories of the cast of characters. What a book!

Perfect ending to the best Halo Book Trilogy
I've read the full trilogy myself but had heard great things about the performance in the audiobooks. I'd had the pleasure to chat with Karen Traviss about the performance so had to get a copy and take a listen!
The writing in this trilogy, particularly this final book really does stand out above other game universe novels. All of Traviss' characters feel like real people, even BB who is a digital.
Can't recommend it highly enough, get Glasslands, get Thursday War and finally get Mortal Dictata.
Karen's Gears of War series is brilliant too!
