Great story really well told!
I started off reading the book, having downloaded it from Kindle unlimited. However, I realised quite quickly that I didn’t want to stop reading as I was hooked. So upon realising there was an audible version I downloaded that and listened whilst working! Finished in one day, looking forward to book 2.

Maverick and Ava
This is an excellent series starter, and what a perfect pair to begin with! Maverick has many secrets in his family and his biggest tote him away from the love of his life when he was a teenager, now he has a second chance with her. Ava was deeply hurt when Maverick disappeared 18 years earlier, now she’s returned to the small community and brought with her two children. I really love how open and loving Mavericks family is and the fact they accepted Ava and both her children is wonderful. You will fall in love with these characters and I cannot wait to continue onto book two! The narrative is so good, you’d think it was a dual narrative! Phoenix does a top notch job!

Great dragon story
I love this setting. These dragons are great. It’s a lovely place to find some dragon shifter action and adventures. Great characters that I definitely want more from. Excellent performance from Phoenix.

Addicted to the Black Claws
The MC was someone I could understand and relate with. Really helped me get addicted to the storyline right away. I loved the mystery love concept and finally finding "daddy". But I also really enjoyed the Black Claw Dragons home. Just felt like everyone was connected. Couldn't get enough of these characters. Can't wait to keep going! AudiobookObsessionReviewers

Second Chances
Loved this second chance shifter romance. The FMC was so strong and I loved that she didn’t hold a grudge against Maverick. Definitely recommend if you like second chance romances or shifters or both!

Interesting take on dragon shifters
I really liked this start to the series. Maverick is an alpha dragon and they first shift when they are 18 years old. Before their first shift, he got really violent and therefore, had to leave his home and his girlfriend at the time, Ava. Ava was unknowingly pregnant at that time and they couldn't find each other. Seventeen years later and they meet again. Now, can they get over the past to be together again? There was also a territory scuffle to make this a pretty well rounded story. I felt some moments of frustration with Maverick but I really liked Ava and Mav's family overall.
I listened to the audiobook. Phoenix McKay was good as a narrator. She had to play both Mav and Ava and I kind of wish there was a male narrator as well, especially because this story was told through the point of view of both Mav and Ava. However, overall Phoenix McKay did well even playing Mav's roles.

Needs two narrators
I enjoyed the story and the narration was good but when you write a story with two POV you need two narrators. I was going to get the other books but seeing they have one narrator I know I wouldn’t be able to finish it so won’t waste a credit.
