Summary

Amy Piper is a loser. She’s lost her confidence, her mojo and her way.

But one thing she has never lost is her total love for her 13-year-old son, Joey, and for his sake she knows it’s time for a change. But first she has to be brave enough to leave the house....

What she needs are friends and an adventure. And when she joins a running group of women who call themselves the Larks, she finds both. Not to mention their inspiring (and rather handsome) coach, Nathan.

Once upon a time Amy was a winner - at life, at sport and in love. Now, with every ounce of strength she has left, she is determined to reclaim the life she had, for herself and for Joey. And who knows, she might just be a winner again - at life, sport and love, if she looks in the right places....

Uplifting, funny and unforgettable, Beth Moran returns with a joyous tale of friendship, love and facing your fears.

Relatable and addictive

This is the second of Beth Morans books I have listened too and got completely immersed in. Can't wait for the next one.

The power of friendship!

I loved this story. I'm sure many people can relate to Amelia or any of the Larks, in one way or another. Just shows we are all on our own personal journey, which can be made a bit easier with the support of real friends. Fab story. Love Beth Moran and the narration was great!

A really lovely, thought provoking listen

Loved the fact that this wasn’t all about romance rather than a personal journey. I’m surprised I came to care so much about the characters by the end. I’ve downloaded Beth Moran’s other 3 books as a consequence.

Lovely story, becoming a fan of this author very quickly.

I am becoming a big fan of this author very quickly. This book was amazing. Amy’s story was fantastic. I really loved the journey she went on to find herself. The cast of characters were amazing and loving.

Great story but ending could be better

Really enjoyed how the story built and the characters. It’s a really uplifting heartfelt story. However the romantic story got neglected at the end. I wanted more or an epilogue at least

Brilliant book

I loved this book! It was gripping and inspirational! I narrator managed to keep you entertained throughout. I would even read this book as a paperback. I would listen to this again!

Fiction, yet imagine inspiration for any

Really enjoyed the plot, sound and truths highlighted. This genre is described as Romcon, yet much more.

Annoying at times

Had great difficulty with the main character. At times it was a hard listen - not because of the storyline , which has a significant message to many, but because of her whiny response to situations. Oh, I’m not sure - I just found it a little dull and very predictable.

Really enjoyed it

Awh I really liked this book. I get what some listeners are saying about the main character being unlikeable, if you’re not super sporty and don’t have a competitive streak (and I include myself amongst those people, being a walking advert for a couch potato), I can see why you might take against her and her ‘must win’ attitude.
But there’s so much depth to the character, and it’s really nice to actually have a main character who struggles with anxiety and mental health, and not just as a token side character, or as something in a character’s history which they’ve just “got over”. I found the whole story believable and relatable, and I loved the positive, encouraging female relationships.
My only negative would be that the narrator had a slightly too similar voice for the son and the love interest, which got a bit irritating in some parts, but that’s it. Thoroughly enjoyed this one, another excellent Beth Moran book.
