Summary

John Buchan published his second most famous novel, John MacNab

Three high-flying men—a barrister, a cabinet minister, and a banker—are suffering from boredom. They concoct a plan to cure it. They inform three Scottish estates that they will poach from each two stags and a salmon in a given time. They sign collectively as "John McNab" and await the responses.

This novel is a light interlude within the Leithen Stories series—an evocative look at the hunting, shooting and fishing lifestyle in Highland Scotland.

Disappointing

First off, the historical context is an unnecessary plot spoiler. Secondly, the narrator just hasn’t got the period accents right. If only they’d got Peter Joyce to do it, he brilliantly captures the era in the Richard Hannah series. Such a shame I’ve been waiting years for this to come out on audiobook.

Disappointed with the narrator

One of my favourite books but the narrator either rushes the narrative or when using the Scottish dialect, doesn’t ‘nail it ‘!

great yarn, wonderful reader.

This book is in another series of Buchan's. It also involves Archie from the hannay series and introduces his romance with his wife.
Not a mystery but a great romp and characters are brought to life. as for the interpreter wonderfully done. Weaving the story and characters to a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

To bad only one other 2 other books are in audible format and 2 can only be accessed in printed form.
