Editor reviews

Enchanting music, ideal for an exotic Indian setting, is the perfect accompaniment to this marvelous tale. Narrator Madhav Sharma dazzles - whether he uses English, Irish, or various melodious Indian accents, along with the style of an old-fashioned storyteller. Kim sounds just like the lively, gutsy, and intelligent survivor he is. Sharma is engaging and very funny when he quotes Kim, particularly when Kim admits that he quickly learned to avoid white men and missionaries. In addition to telling an excellent story, audio promotes this dynamic country and its people, just as Kipling intended

Summary

Set in the days of the British Raj, Kipling's finest novel is the exciting and touching tale of an Irish orphan-boy who has lived free in the streets of Lahore before setting out, with a Tibetan Lama, on a double quest. This eventually leads to enrolment in the Indian Secret Service and a thrilling climax in the Himalayas.

Kim.

I've always liked this story but this audio book is too heavily abridged for my taste. It is perfectly good as an introduction to the tale but the unabridged story gives you a more intense taste of Kipling's India.
