Summary

After accidentally discovering the possible existence of a second Guardian book, Lusam and his party are remorselessly hunted high into the Elveen mountains by the Empire agents, who are intent on killing or capturing them. What they discover there may very well change the balance of power in their favor against the Thule Empire.

But their discovery will count for nothing if they cannot reach Lamuria in time to try and stop the massive invasion force sent by Lord Zelroth, who is intent on destroying their capital and stealing the High Temple's secrets for himself. Lusam inadvertently discovers a long guarded secret of Lord Zelroth's, one that will profoundly change his own life forever and force him to take action that he may very well not be prepared for.

Great story brilliantly read

This is the second (or rather third) installment in the adventures of Lusam. It is expertly read by a master of story telling who has created clear distinctions between all the different people involved. The storyline doesn't hang around either. Really looking forward to the next book!

Serves its purpose

If you want a listen to a generic fantasy book, especially one your mind can wander while driving for 30 min. I think this book was written by a computer- input-fantasy book with boy add magic add evil mages and some zombies, select companions and basic environments, pick from a drop down box from several mythology types, then click rated PG, violence low, sex/romance at Disney princess level and hit enter- boom wait 7 min and out comes The dragon mage Wars!
The book follows the exposition style, a character describes plot elements and back story. Good guys being chased, bad guys right behind- time for good guys to stop and describe the environment and then another describes a plan and the others say good idea- the plan being fuc$!ng run! It's like there is a pause button for the characters to talk.
Thus my review "serves its purpose" if that purpose is no thought required by reader, with low interest and zero anxiety! Ohhh and short!
If you're looking for epic fantasy that draws you in well go to Jordan, Martin or Jordan!

redundance-athon

I know that authors want to present a Paragon of virtue but how about we kill the evil enemy. When the protagonist tells them where to run away instead of killing them, he might as well add "just so you can threaten those I love later". I am looking forward to an author who presents a character with a mental age greater than 12. And what's up with every ship voyage resulting in someone with pathetic seasickness. Cliches are tiring.

spoilers*****

Currently on chapter 36
I have some pet peeves that ruin a story for me this is one.
Lusam is hunted by multiple evil agents trying to kill him and his friends. Lusam eventually beats them but he decides to let them go!!! They are murderers and necromancers that are killing people and want to kill him! These agents have been hunting him for a long time and have information on him, his great and abnormal power, and his friends. Also he led them to a place of power for his side of the war which they also now know about.
The evil agents in even an illogical world would pass along this information possibly leading to many people dying including him and his friends and will definitely increase the amount of force the opposition hunts him with.
The amount of sheer stupidity in this single moment will stop me from reading another one of these books and baffles me how continually authors ruin books using this cliche and disgusting decision that almost always leads to death for his friends and hopefully for him too.
(p.s. other than that a good story which makes this soo much worse)

update.
lusam continues to whine about killing people who are trying to kill him and made a decision to not take a ship ride because it would endanger the crew even though knowing that hundreds of people will die because he wants to walk and possibly lose the war. Why authors continously use this personality I will never understand just stop writng books. So you stop wasting my money.

gets a bit boring

didn't really bother me in the first book but the phrase "old friend" is used so much in this book that it begins to kind of grate. besides that, the other character points of view feel like distractions and I really can't bring myself to care too much about them. the romance dialogue feels like it's exaggerated and is a bit too much. the story just feels like it drags on and I couldn't help but lose interest.
