DIsappointing

I was disappointed by how much I disliked this book as I'd found two other books by the author, 'Can You Keep a Secret' and 'Twenties Girl' light-weight but entertaining. The Mini of the title refers to Becky's spoilt toddler daughter. But the real shopaholic is Becky who displaces some of her desires to spend money by buying her daughter everything she demands. Becky is a vacuous, self-centred woman who wastes money on a grand scale even when her husband's bank is in crisis. I carried on listening as I had nothing else to accompany me on a long walk but didn't finish the recording as it just seemed to be catalogue of folly and stupidity with little to redeem it. If it was meant to be a satire it didn't work for me.

Funny !!

If you like the shopaholic books this will be no exception. It's very funny . It's not to be taken seriously as some people have on here. Becky has her head in the clouds and is addicted to designer gear , but has a very warm heart . Minnie is a spoilt child , but that's the point of the story ! A few pauses in the narration which threw me , but the narrators voice suits it perfectly. Especially when she does Minnie, and Beckys mother .

Ok but unrealistic characters

Persevered with this despite incredulous characters and annoying narration. Becky thinks and acts like a spoiled 2 year old brat, and her daughter is a spoiled 2 year old brat. Was ok … just

Another entertaining listen!

An easy listen. I generally don’t listen to fiction but am a recent convert during the festive season. I listened to Shopaholic at Christmas and really enjoyed it so thought I’d listen to this. Becky is a fun character and I can associate with certain aspects but certainly I can’t think of funny stories on the spot as Becky does. Some may find her materialistic but there’s so much more to her. She is such a generous person and has a heart of gold.
Given this narrator is different to the person who narrated Shopaholic at Christmas, the image conjured up in my mind of Becky was slightly different. This isn’t an issue though. Both narrators read excellently.
This was a little longer than it needed to be but nevertheless still highly entertaining. Clever title too but really the book should have been called something like Shopaholic and the Surprise Party as the main theme was about arranging a party.

Cheerful read

This was an uplifting story - I’ve enjoyed the other shopaholic audio books by Sophie Kinsella and this one didn’t disappoint. The characters I now feel I know personally! The book was well narrated and characters came to life! Looking forward to another book in the series.

Loved it

Becky is truly ghastly! I love listening to her terrible lies. Thanks. Such an escapist story.

Glad I stuck with it

In my opinion this book was longer than the substance of the story allowed for. I almost didn’t finish this book, and contemplated not continuing several times; as I felt it was going on and on and not really evolving but the last 3 chapters were the best of the story.. so I am glad i carried on until the end.

Narration was really good, only downside was her impression of Luke’s male voice I found slightly off putting!

Exactly as you expect

If you have read any of the shopaholic series you will know what to expect, this does not disappoint.
The cring worthy antics continue in this book as with all that have gone before. If you are looking for high brow reading this book is not for you, but if you want a book that is just fun to read/hear and will make you sigh and laugh then this is for you.
