It was annoying
female character was not likeable. super dense and annoying. I would love it if they gave the female character a bit of sense. I did not like how super naive and annoying she was

Had to get book 2 ...
although at times, the female lead at times, came across a bit annoying to me.( not sure if that was in the narration rather than story) I can't help recognise a good story. when you finish and go directly for the next book because ... how dare you end it there! and then you listen to the next book in a weekend.
I manage to love and dislike these characters in equal measure. it propels me on to see if they will be the villan or the hero.

Lots of twists and turns~
The writer clearly new what they were doing. It's well thought out and planned. The characters jumps off the page. I finished this in one sitting and am now jumping to book 2.
Highly recommend!

It's my fault for reading this when I'm in my dark romance era, knowing this is not it. But hey I was pleasantly surprised. The story and performance is great. Just a little mild for me. The younger me would have loved this.

Nice fantasy but lacked tension
The premise is different and the magic and deck of cards aesthetics is interesting but ultimately the story lacked pacing and tension building. The FML felt as though they were rambling through the chapters. I am going to read the next book and hope it’s building to somewhere and that is was just a slow burn kind of story.
