Great escapist story telling
Lee Child's "Jack Reacher"action thrillers tend to be somewhat formulaic, but never fail to be gripping and entertaining. Fans of the series will not be disappoined with this story. New readers can jump into the series at any point since back story is not too important.
Jeff Harding is an excellent reader, although his attempts at a Russian accent in parts of this book are a little odd!

Absolutely brilliant - Classic Reacher
This was the first Jack Reacher novel I heard and I have now listened again and it's just as good. The plot is as enthralling as all Lee Childs work. Reacher is only after one thing the truth! even if he cant stand the guy he's helping the truth is more important. You will be kept guessing right to the end but with Lee Child that is never frustrating just enthralling.
If you are a Jack Reacher fan you will love it. If you haven't heard a Jack Reacher story yet this is a great introduction, you will definitely download another!

Very well read Reacher book
I see that one reviewer does not like the Lee Child/Reacher style of speech or writing. It's a question of taste; I think it underlines Reacher's detached emotional position very well. The plots are economical in that every observation of Reacher's comes in useful for the plot at some stage. Of course, there are many common elements between the books. They are hardly great literature but IMO they work very well. It is astonishing that Lee Child is English.
I am very fussy about my narrators and think Jeff Harding is very good. All the characters have their own voices, women as well as men. Everything about the delivery suits the story. It's a really professional performance. I think reading audiobooks sorts out the real actors from the rest.

Loved it - I don't seem to get sick of Reacher
Would you listen to One Shot again? Why?
Yes - maybe not for a bit though.
What was one of the most memorable moments of One Shot?
The stories about the Russian characters in the gulag scared me! Was hoping there wouldn't be too much detail!
What does Jeff Harding bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
The books are also great to read. What I enjoy the most is the drama JH is able to convey in the reading of the book.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It mostly makes me laugh, hold my breath and then breath a sigh of relief. Bit of a roller coaster the Jack Reacher books in terms of emotions!!

Great book, dreadful incidental music
Personally I love all the Jack Reacher books. Jeff Harding makes a great narrator for the books, with well defined deferences in the characters vocals. Sadly, somebody decided to randomly interrupt this book in multiple places with some pretty awful incidental music that lasts about 15 seconds. Granted, 15 seconds isn’t long, but it’s seriously irritating.

Hero for the times
Suspense all the way and a satisfying conclusion. Although a little unbelievable, in that Reacher always wins, it is the path to that victory that ultimately draws in the reader/listener. You want to know how he works things out, why he becomes involved... Reacher is, basically, a very likeable character, a 'goodie'. And Jeff Harding is a great listen.

A good recipe for success
Child does it so well. Sneaks in a twist or two, a couple of females and of course some baddies to defeat with his bare hands.
