Summary
Everybody has a story to tell....
Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison has moved up the ranks, fighting every step of the way to break through Scotland Yard's glass ceiling. Now, on her first day as the head of the Vice Squad, a high-profile case threatens to destroy everything she has worked for.
When Tennison's latest investigation reveals an influential public figure as her prime suspect - a man with connections to politicians, judges, and Scotland Yard - she's given a very clear message about the direction her investigation should take.
In a case defined by murky details, one fact becomes indisputably clear, that for Tennison, going after the truth will mean risking her happiness and maybe her career.
Based on the award-winning TV series starring Helen Mirren, the complete and unabridged Prime Suspect trilogy is now available for the first time in audio.

An uncomfortable read.
I have loved all the Jane Tennison books so far so I was looking forward to this one. It was written and set in the 90s when the language around the issue of race and ethnicity was different from what's acceptable today. Despite knowing this I still found some of the overt ravidt language and attitudes very difficult to listen too and so the story had a very old fashioned and outdated feel to it.
I felt myself rolling my eyes at times for example when one victim was described as half white and half West Indian which they claimed explained why they were wearing Nigerian bracelets seeming to confuse the Carribbean and Africa.
The narrator sounds very much like Helen Mirren but her regional accents are less convincing and I found her Carribbean accents uncomfortable to listen too.
Overall I was disappointed.

Can’t re-write history
Read the awful reviews about the language used in this book and ,the thing is, people talked like this years ago,and thought nothing of it !!!
I know, hard to believe today.
If we don’t let people hear the words they used, they won’t know what what actual racial discrimination means
I applaud Lynda La Plante for saying how it was and I shall buy another book

NO NO NO
The racist language in this book is offensive. It's not an excuse anymore to say it depicted a time. I have stopped listening because it should not be sold.
Amazon you are better than this.
I will not buy anymore Lynda La plant books.
Please, for society sake, clean it up

Amazing reader
The story is a good one, at least for fans of Prime Suspect, but what’s truly impressive is the performance of this reader. Like a one-man orchestra, she gives you the experience of listening to a full-cast radio show.

It's +8/10 for me
It begins to feel rather old the predugise against women that is Jane. In 2021 the old school might still exist

Very very good
This is really very good sequel to the first Prime Suspect story. I haven't given it full stars because something about it just isn't to my taste.
Tennison is an excellent character yet again and the story certainly takes some interesting twists and turns.

Very disappointed in this poor narration I thought
Prime suspect usually gets such great reviews and has a huge fan base and this is usually my genre. The tv series was too
graphic for me however so I decided the audiobook would be just the thing. However, the reading of this is dreadful, I grimaced and could not continue past the first chapter. Returned.
