Summary
It’s time for a childbirth revolution.
Childbirth has always been, and always will be, a significant rite of passage that transforms a woman into a mother. However, the modern approach to maternity care fails women, families, and care providers with outdated practices that center the needs of institutions rather than individuals.
In this audiobook, Rachel Reed demonstrates how childbirth can be reclaimed to center women and support birth physiology. The audiobook weaves history, science, and research with the experiences of women and care providers to create a holistic, evidence-based framework for understanding birth. It takes the listener on a journey through childbirth physiology and practices and focuses on what can be done to create change one mother at a time, one birth at a time.
Reclaiming childbirth as a rite of passage acknowledges that self-transformation occurs regardless of how the experience unfolds. It recognizes that mothers hold the power and expertise when it comes to birthing their babies. This audiobook encourages women to find their individual pathway through their rite of passage and requires care providers to consider how their actions and interactions influence women’s experiences.
Whether you are a parent, care provider or educator, this audiobook will transform how you think and feel about childbirth.

The best book
I totally loved this book, and tbh I am a bit of a critical reader sometimes. I just thought it was so well written, balanced, written in the write tone, very well narrated. The story of eve is exactly what I was looking for. I’ll listen again and again to this one and try to internalise it. Wonderful book. Thank you ♥️

One of THE most important books a woman could read
This is one of THE. most important books a woman could ever read, regardless of whether she plans to birth herself. In a world where women's rights are moving in retrograde, we really must reclaim these rights of passage as women.

This book should be compulsory for all
I love this book so much and honestly think everyone should read it. It should be on school curriculums. Rachel Reed is so amazing, so full of knowledge and has a way of explaining everything in such a compassionate and understanding way. I'd give more stars, if I could.

A must read for all human on earth
I’m so empowered and educated, ready for natural birth! It’s shocking how we as human do everything wrong, even such a thing like birth! We totally destroyed woman instinct, place them on a back against gravitation, killed all natural hormones that stimulate and help with pain and then we do plenty of intervention and giving epidural as a safer, where we didn’t need it if we did things right! Educate yourself and know your rights and capabilities thanks to this book we can gain our woman natural power back!
