Summary

Asher Henderson. Captain of the Highnam Academy football team, and the bane of my existence.

As Alstone High’s team captain, I’ve been pitted against him from the beginning, but our conflict isn’t only reserved for the pitch. Everyone knows we’re enemies. From our first encounter, our rivalry has been escalating, spiraling out of control. Until one night when everything between us changed.

He pushed me too far, and we crossed a line that should never have been crossed. Now, I can’t get him out of my head. Can we ever be more than rivals, or are there too many obstacles in our way? One thing I know for sure. Things between us will never be the same again.

Savage Rivals is a stand-alone M/M new adult high school romance with enemies-to-lovers and gay-awakening themes. This audiobook contains mature situations and content.

Note: Originally included in the Brutal Boys on Devils Night collection, this edition of Savage Rivals has been expanded with additional content.

A really good audio to listen to

The book was good, not great, but the narration made it all the way better.

Instead of a simple enemies to lovers, the author chose rivals to lovers. That meant that not only the main characters couldn’t bear each other, but they were also riled up by the people around them. Asher and Levi are in rival football team–football as in its European meaning of soccer. They start off on the wrong foot until they’re playing not funny pranks on each other’s team with the help of their teammates. Because of that, they think of the other non stop. Though they have no idea what’s happening, we as reader already know that something else is going on. The fun is seeing how they’ll get to the same conclusion.

There’s a lot of lust at the beginning. Frankly, I had trouble seeing anything else for a long time. They’re young men, horny pretty much all the time, so that they end up experimenting with each other didn’t seem strange. But we get several conversation when they discover they get each other–the pressure to succeed with their team, life as high schooler, being young men in search of their sexuality… They slowly form a connection, and I was all for that.

As it’s basically the story of two men experiencing their bisexuality, intimacy is an important part of the book. It sure was sexy. I had a hard time with the feeling it was an ‘intercourse check list’. You know, first we do something soft, then we experiment further, etc. Until we get all the way. It sort of made sense, but still bothered me a bit.

The whole high school experience was quite spot on. The troubles in class. The pressure. The relationships with friends and teammates. There weren’t a lot of adults though.

Done in duet narration, the audio was excellent. Both narrators are British, so the accents were great. And they were perfect for the characters. Asher was cocky, Levi more reserved. A really good audio to listen to, really.

MM Enemies-To-Lovers Romance

Savage Rivals by Becca Steele is a MM enemies-to-lovers high school romance that I listened to on audio narrated by James Joseph and Will Watt.

I absolutely love Becca’s books! I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Asher and Levi. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

James and Will did an amazing job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like MM romances, enemies-to-lovers romances, sports romances, or contemporary romances.

So Hot!

This was another epic enemies to lovers story by Becca Steele.
Levi & Asher aren’t the typical rivals, they are arch nemesis on & off the field.
How far will they go to even the score?

Fantastic Story & Listen🎧 Gripping & Smoking🔥Hot!

Becca Steele continues to wow me with another amazing enemies to lovers romance, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. The lead characters, Asher and Levi, are on their school’s football teams and are rivals, each team tries to outdo the other in shenanigans and pranks to get under their skin. The tension between could be cut with a knife, but they soon realize there is chemistry between them and it does not take them long to realize it, the back-and-forth banter turns into foreplay and when they finally give into the feeling, it is explosive. This is a fantastic, bi-awakening, gay for you, M/M new adult romance, it is a wonderfully plotted story with plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Becca Steele, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, James Joseph and Will Watt did a great job bringing these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit their character’s persona perfectly, and were believable in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. They made a great team and their narration enhances the story to another level. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

So hot!

Savage Rivals by Becca Steele
Narration by James Joseph and Will Watt

Holy Hotness!

I listened to books where it mentions these two but wowza these two story is ultra hawt!

Steamy sensuality is what this this book is. First enemies then a whole lot of hotness! If there was ever a couple who needed to be together! This was so hot! I really enjoyed hearing more of Asher and Levy after hearing about them in prior books. So happy for their exclusive story.

Wow the depth of revenge in high school! Yes it was intense but the fact that these two overcome the world around them and the freedom of being together was awesome!

Really impressed with the performances but both James Joyce and Will Watt n this steamy story!

You definitely will need to hear if you enjoy bully romance or same sex romance.

Ash & Levi💕

Love the glimpse that we got of Levi & Ash in the Brutal Boys collection!! You know what they say about love & hate and they have that in spades🔥❤️

Absolutely love the rest of their story!! I love that Levi’s parents were cool AF about Ash and I’m also glad that Becca wrote Ash’s mom as a little resistant. We get to see both sides of coming out. It’s not always easy and that side should be shown as well. I was so very happy that she did accept Ash & Levi. It just takes some parents a bit longer to get past their idea of who you should love.

Love their epilogue💕 seriously!! How cool is Levi’s job😍

High school going on mid twenties

First off, the narration was excellent and saved the story. I really get annoyed at books that are supposedly about highschoolers and the characters are written as if they are in their mid-20s. Why not just place them in their mid-20s and ship the story it it just a lot of it didn’t add up or make any sense for adolescence. I did like the attraction between the main characters I just found the story unrealistic.

Enemies to Lovers

Savage Rivals by Becca Steele was a fantastic listen. Becca brought all the angst here. This story brought all the emotions. The growing love between these two was something I feel like is usually missing in these enemies-to-lovers / Secret lovers situations. James and Will did a great job portraying this couple growing with each other. I was pleasantly surprised.
Overall I really loved this story!

A Mixed Bag

Savage Rivals is an imperfect narrative. The two male leads read nearly identical to each other and the romantic arc is woefully underdeveloped. However, Steele does present a quick, enemies-to-lovers MM romance that is a nice palate cleanser.

James Joseph & Will Watt made this novel for me!!

Rivals from the moment they met Levi and Asher want nothing more than to take the other day in whatever way they can. It all started at a football match and only escalated from there. These two rivals are getting more than they bargained for when feelings get involved and nothing can stop the passion that ignites in them once it is started.

Becca Steele put a little bit of a twist on the whole high school bully romance, and I loved every minute of it. Levi and Asher grew up worlds apart but on the football pitch they know exactly who they are. That one thing tied them together as well as their hatred for one another. When things start to shift from enemies to frenemies, they take their relationship as it comes. There is a transitional period where neither one of them know exactly what is going to happen, but they go with it. For me that was different because in most bully romances it is constant hate up to the point of the story ending and that is not realistic nor entertaining for me. Becca created a whole new take on bully romances, and I am here for it.

James Joseph has quickly become one of my favorite narrators, his British accent really hits all the good points in every story he narrates. Will Watt though, I have been sleeping on him. I know I have heard his narrations before but this one really grabbed me, especially when he said "baby" because who doesn't love that?

Then that epilogue!! I am a sucker for a good epilogue and this one was *chefs kiss* and I never wanted their story to end. Five stars for the football rivals who found love amongst the hate.

Emotional and Beautiful

I've only recently begun to listen to M/M romances and wow! This one absolutely blew me away. Will Watt and James Joseph delivered some of the most gut wrenching performances I've ever heard in ANY romance novel. I'm a big fan of the bully/tortured past trope and love the edginess. So, if you're a fan of Rina Kent, L. Steele, etc. this one is definitely for you!
