Better than the first book
Now I enjoyed the first book in this series, it was well written, well read and engaging. It did however feel a bit predictable, something that this book makes up for. It keeps the revelations coming right up to the end and while the plot progression is slower I think the story benefits from this, especially as you see relationships forming and breaking.
If you liked the first book I'd definately give this one a read.

Spirit Walker
This is the second book in the series. In this story, Torak comes into contact with the first of the Soul Eaters, an evil group of rennagades thirsty for power and domination over all and whom it is Torak's destiny to destroy. We're also introduced to Bale, a relation of Torak's and a key figure in the series. Michelle Paver moves away from her forest setting of Wolf Brother and explores the world of the sea clans. She does so with her usual skill for description. This is a more than worthy sequel to Wolf Brother.

Love it!
I loved this book as a child and Ian McKellen's reading of it is one of the best performance I have heard for an audiobook. Relistening to it as an adult, I am.still drawn back in the same way as when I was 10, still fearful, still excited and still utterly captivated! Brilliant book for older children or young teens who are interested in adventure and history or for adults looking for escapism!

A brilliant installment
4.5/5
Another brilliant installment of The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness. This book was one of the first books I bought with my own money as a kid and I have fond memories of reading it. Ian McKellen's narration adds so much and enhanced this wonderful story. The descriptions of the animals, forest and sea are detailed, accurate and create curiosity and wonder in the reader. Will be moving on to Soul Eater very shortly.
