Struggled
I was really excited when I saw this series on Audible, I’ve liked Star Trek for years, but never got round to listening to or reading any of the books before.
Unfortunately, I’ve got to chapter 19 and I’m struggling. I’ve really tried to give it a chance, but it just isn’t happening.
The narration isn’t all that good, Picard sounds like Sean Connery, and that’s all I can hear now, the female characters all sound the same, and most of the male characters have little difference. I’ll have to see if I can find something better.

A bittersweet and satisfying way to begin the end
I've read the expanded star trek book universe for a long time now, not every single book, but i dip in and out when that certain itch to catch up with my favourite characters in a post nemesis galaxy grabs me. I'll start by saying that the story is fantastic, bringing back little nods and touches from both TNG itself and other elements from the books leading up to this one, in fact it starts with a very handy timeline of important points to catch you up if you haven't been reading previous titles which helps immensely with just diving into these books on their own if they're your first foray into the novels. I was on the edge of my proverbial seat for the whole 12 hours of this, the cliche of it being a rollercoaster ride feels the most apt in this case as every time there was a moment of calm it felt as thought i were slowly being raised towards the top of the peak once again to feel the heart pounding rush of the fall and i can say that the only reason i didn't finish this in one sitting was that i listen at work and decided to save the 2nd half for my next shift!
I usually try to not judge a full story on it's own before the entire narrative has been revealed to me, but I just couldn't help myself in this case, it felt like i was reading the first part of the finale to characters i've known and followed since i was 3 and i cannot overstate my love for them and for what this presented to me so far. Highly recommend, and Mr Petkoff is an impeccable narrator as always.

Gripping from start to finish
I’ve followed the Trek Lit universe for years and am delighted that rather than just ignoring the time and love and yes money from fans (like some other major space-based franchises) there has been a concerted effort to retire the many series and characters in a way that will tie into the expanding Star Trek world we’re seeing on our screens right now. This book had me hooked and I listened to it with my heart in my mouth. Its a truly thrilling and emotional story. Mr Petkoff as always is a solid and compelling narrator. The worst bit is that I have to wait 4 weeks for the next instalment!

Depressingly Good?
Great job as usual by both author and narrator. That said, it was heartbreaking to see the wholesale slaughter of characters I've come to know over 20 years. I appreciate the Author's afterword so I know not to invest any more time in Star trek novels after this series. The parent company can demand 20 years of development be trashed to support mediocre tv shows that will likely be gone in 5 years, but thankfully, I don't have to support it with my time and money. How is this substantially different than the treatment disney gave star wars? This is essentially the same treatment and thus series is a bonus eulogy. Best of luck to the Author's and thanks for 20+ years of some of the best stories that kept this franchise alive. I'll just re-read those works I suppose.

Wow!
This book reminds me a lot of Dr Who, (I'll do my best not to give spoilers) from the dealing with time aspects. As with any Trek episode dealing with time, it can be hard to wrap your head around, but I still love it!
Robert I love as the reader, one reason I picked up this book and plan to grab the sequels when they are available.
I hated that some aspects of the story with regards to some recent characters. I won't spoil it with details though.

Fun ride, excellent narration!
I have read very few Star Trek novels and had no idea where to start. I took a chance on this one because it had an intriguing premise and lots of crossovers from my favorite ships, characters, and concepts from Trek. Robert Petkoff does a phenomenal job narrating and truly captures the vocal cadence and personalities of our favorites. It was thrilling, interesting, and heartfelt from start to finish with plenty of “fill-in” bits to keep less well-versed readers in the loop and able to enjoy the ride. Definitely recommend!

Incredible
Trek really lives in the books for me now, and this one is one of the best. Robert Petkoff is a brilliant narrator, and not only does dead on renditions of many of the characters as portrayed by their original actors, he keeps you riveted by his pacing and the way he lets words land like snowflakes or anvils, depending on their gravity. This one is a very fun treat.

Honestly none of this is well written
Seriously this is more of a horror movie than it is a sci-fi novel… the amount of death in this book becomes staggering and honestly it seems to be the only thing the author knows how to write. Major characters are murdered including legacy TV Series characters and there doesn’t seem to really any reason for it… I’m just finishing book one and it was 17 hours of of the same kind of murder scenes repeated over and over… like dude we get it… the main adversary while could be interesting just isn’t explored as if like on the last two or three seasons of Discovery… I’ll go to the next book I hope it’s not a death fest like this one… this isn’t Star Trek!

Peak Star Trek
This novel is peak Star Trek, and is truly a worthy Coda to 20+ years of Trek expanded lore. It’s truly something every Star Trek fan should listen to or read, and it’s clearly a labor of love by all those involved. Truly cannot recommend this higher (and YES it’s still fully accessible for trek fans that haven’t been able to keep up with the novels. Just amazing).
