Summary
Lord Nathaniel Harte, the disagreeable duke of Beswick, spends his days smashing porcelain, antagonizing his servants, and snarling at anyone who gets too close. With a ruined face like his, it's hard to like much about the world - especially smart-mouthed harpies (with lips better suited to kissing than speaking) who brave his castle with indecent proposals.
But Lady Astrid Everleigh will stop at nothing to see her younger sister safe from a notorious scoundrel, even if it means offering herself up on a silver platter to the forbidding Beast of Beswick himself. And by offer, she means what no highborn lady of sound and sensible mind would ever dream of - a tender of marriage with her as his bride.

Really enjoyed book....however
Loved this story line but not a massive fan of the narrator. Stuck with it as funny with lol moments and will prob listen again but could have been 5 stars with a better narrator

charming story ....
The story is charming ... even so the Duke seems to run around a lot of times /most the time, with an Erection ...
I personally wouldn't call it a regency novel ---- as the swearwords and the sex scenes (which are of no consequence) don't fit a Regency Novel --- it is a charming story nevertheless, which is beautifully read , a pleasant experience.

It had Potential.
The Hero "The Beast/The Beast of Beswick", a Drum-Roll I felt was appropriate each time it was said.
He suffers a continually arousal and wallows in self-pity and goes on and on about both.
The Author knows nothing about English villages, villagers and countryside, THEY know everyone's business. They also look after one of their own, he wouldn't have been the only seriously injured veteran, so all that horror rubbish was overplayed. The English in general are very good at being polite, so even in London, the extreme reactions of the TON was fanciful and over the top.
I felt the Author kept going down "rabbit holes" and then been forced to find ridiculous solutions.
The Heroine and sister escape danger and disappear into a neighbouring estate, with no one seeing where they have gone. They know Runners were looking for them, so they go into the Village and say"here we are".
The sister manages to go to London with the so called enemy, again with no-one being aware of her plans. She then changes character and is no longer the weak, pathetic woman, but becomes her own mistress, so the Heroine's help, is unwanted.
The only really decent character is the Aunt, though her exploits are far-fetched.
The final solution is unbelievable and well stretched out, but in par with the rest of the story.
The narrator did a very good job, with unbelievable rubbish.
