intriguing
an intriguing story that spans generations and a whole range of characters that at first seem unrelated, but the story reveals the connection. My only grioe is that the end seemed abrupt.
I love Joanne Froggatt reading, but there were parts especially at rhe beginning where the narration was very fast (When I tried to slow it on Alexa it went to 75% which was too slow, and I couldn't get a speed in between). it's not an issue I normally have. Also the switch between some chapters/characters was so subtle and quick that it took me some moments to catch up. As it's an audio book, we can't see the turning of the page and the obvious switch .. so that could have been a lot better!

Confusing
I found the very many characters and different eras very confusing., and I couldn’t always make the connections, but I loved the detail of places mentioned, it was good to be able to visualise real places. Hard going at times

WOW!! Fabulous read!
what a wonderful book , the story unfolds between past and present, the characters connect as each chapter presents itself and the pages unfurl, I found I held my breathe in parts I really didn't want the story to end, a very different "whodunit" without it being a crime so to speak and soooooooooo well narrated fantastic all the way through.

Easy listen
This book was hard to get into but if you persevere it’s worth it. It can as well be a bit confusing jumping from era to era with Joanne Frogetts voice being the same for all the female characters , but once you get into the story you can work out who’s who!
This is a gentle book and an easy listen that’s well researched

Spellbinding
I was hooked on this book from the start and was taken on a wonderful journey throughout. A really good story line and beautifully told. Definitely a 5 * rating.

Hooked from the beginning
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and found myself listening to it on a night, rather than watching the television, and carrying my tablet around with me so that I could listen at every opportunity. Joanne Froggatt provided a superb narration...each character so easily recognisable, and fully fleshed out as their own person. It was like listening to a play, and I kept having to remind myself that this was one voice creating all these individual personalities. Kate Morton + Joanne Froggatt are a superb match.

Sadly, just not my cup of tea
I listened to this on Audible. For me this was a take it or leave it book. I wasn't really captivated by the storyline or the characters. I think I continued with the book solely for Joanne Froggats brilliant narration. I did however love the description of the house and everything about it, it's location, the nooks and crannies of it, the views from it and the feel of it. There was a certain poignancy about the story that I did pick up on and it was rather sad.

A story of lives, times and secrets within walls
This for me was not an easy book to drift in and out of. Packed with detail of beauty, innocence and love I imagined myself inside the buildings; on the walk. i also found myself frequently rewinding this audible as a minute or two interruptions from others or thoughts of your own could mean the difference berween clarity and confusion within its flow as the characters throughout the time span of the book were given life and voice in separate eras. beautifully performed and a beautiful story. thank you.

Too many stories, characters to listen to.
All the seperate parts were fab. But so hard to piece together on Audio. Unless I had sat down and taken notes, I could not keep up with the different parts and people.
All the character's were probably worthy of their own book. I am afraid I ended up wanting to shoot myself, so I erased the book off my phone and didn't even check out the ending. Hoping the main characters had a happy ending. X
