Summary

Remember those people that destroyed the economy and then cruised off on their yachts? Well guess what? Someone is killing them.

Dublin is in the middle of a heat wave, and tempers are running high. The Celtic Tiger is well and truly dead, activists have taken over the headquarters of a failed bank, the trial of three unscrupulous property developers teeters on the brink of collapse, and in the midst of all this, along comes a mysterious organisation hell-bent on exacting bloody vengeance in the name of the little guy.

Paul Mulchrone doesn’t care about any of this; he has problems of his own. His newly established detective agency is about to be DOA. One of his partners won’t talk to him for very good reasons, and the other has seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth for no reason at all. Can he hold it together long enough to figure out what Bunny McGarry’s colourful past has to do with his present absence?

When the law and justice no longer mean the same thing, on which side will you stand?

The Day That Never Comes is the second book in Caimh McDonnell’s Dublin Trilogy, which melds fast-paced action with a distinctly Irish acerbic wit.

Does not disappoint

Another exciting Dublin murders thriller following Paul with his new detective agency as he tries to work out what is going on with his friend Bunny McGarry and where he is. This audio is a great listen full of humour and suspense and can’t wait for book three.

Bunny gets into a fix

This was quite enjoyable but not as much as the first in the trilogy. Still loads of dark laugh out loud humour but I found that the story rambled a bit more than I’d have liked. Same central characters - developing relationships.
Much more political with echoes to current happenings.
Excellent narration once more from Morgan C Jones. The man is a genius!

Brilliant and very funny

Of all the audiobooks I’ve ever listened to, the narrator for these stories is the best I’ve heard, especially his Bunny McGarry voice! The stories and characters are great, especially Bunny McGarry!

Excellent again…

…from Messrs McDonnell and Jones. These first two of six in The Dublin Trilogy (not a typo) are clever and entertaining, well worth listening to. Morgan Jones’ narration adds to the entertainment value no end. Roll on the next in the series.

Terrible voice acting. Brilliant story.

The character voices are awful. Thankfully the story is good enough to help you ignore it. Initially the accents were so bad I nearly stopped listening but I ended up laughing at them - kind of becoming so bad it was funny. The story was compelling and fun. I read the first in the series…. I’ll definitely read the next one.

Indescribable in a truly Bunny way.

How can I begin to describe this book! There are seriously dark moments, seriously funny moments and seriously Bunny moments that leave you with aching ribs. Awesomely read by Morgan Jones who makes every character uniquely individual and brilliant witty writing by Caimh McDonnell. Now off to get my next fix of this highly addictive set of Bunny and the gang.

Bunny or Maggie?

Loved this second book in the series as much as the first. Another exciting story with a myriad of twists, turns and insane adventures. We now have a canine version of Bunny too. I can’t decide which one of them is the most stubborn & intractable.

A great in-car or dog-walking listen that I thoroughly recommend to anyone. Read book 1 first though as the story builds on those events.
