Summary

The first volume in Cliff McNish's best-selling debut trilogy.

In a blaze of light, rush of wind, and scrabble of claws, Rachel and Eric are ripped through the wall and hurtled on to another world. Like thousands of other children before them, they have been snatched away by the Witch.

But this time the Witch has met her match. Rachel discovers that she has extraordinary gifts: she can transform herself into a feather, or fly on an owl’s back, just as the Witch can. The Witch is excited she has found someone to use for her own evil purposes. But for the Witch’s victims, Rachel is their only hope.

Cliff McNish

Good narration, but it is a shame it is not an unabridged version. And a shame there aren't more Cliff McNish audiobooks available. Silver Child Trilogy.

A classic from my childhood

The Doomspell Trilogy reminds me a lot of the Narnia books, but it's a bit darker and full of magic.

As a child, The Doomspell was one of my favourite books so it was great to listen to it and be reminded of why I liked it so much. Siân Phillips does a great job of narrating, especially of the evil witch, Dragwena, and her creepy spiders.

If you enjoy this abridged audiobook then I would definitely recommend the book. An adventure not to be forgotten.
