Summary

Through no fault of his own, the once human Jim Eckert had become a dragon. Unfortunately, his beloved Angie had remained human. But in this magical land anything could happen.

To make matter worse, Angie had been taken prisoner by an evil dragon and was held captive in the impenetrable Loathly Tower. So in this land where humans were edible and beasts were magical - where spells worked and logic didn't-- Jim Eckert had a big, strange problem.

Another fun book ruined by the narrator

Would you try another book written by Gordon R. Dickson or narrated by Paul Boehmer?

Paul Boehmer just cant narrate. I'm going to try and stay away from books read by him. he is just poor all round. hardly any variance in tone voice or character. Also having lived in Wales for 11 years I'm insulted by his Irish accent he uses on a Welsh man and his terrible pronunciations of the welsh name.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Its hard to say, I raged so much during the book about the terrible English and Welsh accents that are 70% of the people.

What didn’t you like about Paul Boehmer’s performance?

all of the above

Was The Dragon and the George worth the listening time?

No, the book was made terrible by the narrator.

Any additional comments?

the above and above. why would any intelligent author approve of this terrible narration of their work. I cant see why people would let their work be treated like this.

realistic fantasy

It is a good listen for those who like fantasy with a hint of realism

Good

It was a good story but not riveting. I was glad that I was reading it as a free Audible book, otherwise I might have felt differently. It was obvious in a lot of places that it was an older book...

oversimple psycho-historical fantasy

It feels really anachronistic for some reason. A rescue the princess in an odd mishmash of history and high fantasy, with an Irish(?) Welsh man. Young teens 40 years ago might have got a kick out of it.

Lovely Fantasy for every Age

I really enjoyed this book as well as the narrator. He's got a great voice and overall makes the different characters well destinguishable. It starts in real time but turns into medical fantasy.
