About this listen

The hills of Western Massachusetts contain dark and terrible secrets. Strange families keep to themselves and practice rites of ancient and unspeakable black magic. These dreadful and unholy rituals give birth to a monstrosity beyond imagination, a monstrosity that threatens mankind itself! Can a brave handful of intrepid scholars hope to confront the otherwordly destruction of “The Dunwich Horror”?

H.P. Lovecraft's classic tale is dramatized and brought to life in the style of a 1930s radio drama, complete with a large cast of actors, original music, and thrilling sound effects.

Good adaptation

This version of the story is quite faithful to the original, although by not straying too far it also seems to be a little on the safe side. Other stories, such as The Call of Cthulhu, are more imaginative in this regard.

Great Radio Play

I love how these radio plays have an old-time feel to them. I often listen to these types of books when I'm drifting off to sleep or when I'm working. you're never left wondering what's going on or what the scene is. they're well performed and great to listen to.

Ape man and cosmic horror monster

I prefer a story with focus on one person instead of a big group. It makes it easer to follow along with. The Dunwich Horror is quite the opposite on singular focus. Despite not having my prefered setting I still liked the story.
It tells the story of the folks in Dunwich and their experience with a weird family and a lurking cosmic horror.

One of the best

A great story performed by a great cast. Ideal for a single sitting, preferably at night.

entertaining performance but uneven audio mixing

I like these radio theater interpretations of Lovecraft's stories, including the joyful spirit, entertaining voice acting, and cozy atmosphere they create. But the mixing could probably be improved. Some sounds are too low and others too high so you sometimes struggle to hear (at least if English is not your mother's tongue) and sometimes your ears are hurt.
