A mixed bag
I think that Faro’s Daughter had the most consistent performances - Nathaniel Parker was great as Ravenscar and I only wish he could have performed Lord Worth’s part in Regency Buck. Regency Buck was probably the weakest with some questionable vocal choices, particularly Worth who was made to sound like a waspish old man rather than a rakish, debonair romantic hero in his 30s. Friday’s Child has such great material to work with that the rather flat performance of Hero could only slightly mar an otherwise great cast.

Enjoyable
This audio was well worth the listen. Regency Buck was the weakest in my view but the others were very well done, although heavily abridged. The star was Envious Casca though. Very, very enjoyable indeed and very well acted. I highly recommend this audio book.

A mixed bag
The good - Fridays Child and Faros Daughter were both quite good if somewhat rushed.
The mediocre- Envious Casca this was ok but would prefer some of the Agatha Christie or D L Sayers adaptation for this genre
The bad - Regency Buck was appalling - the main characters were both made into obnoxious people whom nobody would care about. This is one of Heyers best novels which has been ruined in this adaptation

Just one thing wrong
The first three plays are great, just wish they could have been longer. But Envious Casca has two extra totally unnecessary characters added for no good reason. In doing that the roles of the hero and heroine are reduced to nearly nothing so what was the point of that? Also it undersells Inspector Hemingway’s intelligence, making out he needed an old friend to solve it for him. All Heyer readers know how superfluous that is. It wasn’t too bad but I prefer sticking to the book. Still worth listening to and the first three are as good as they can be given the time restraints. Wish they’d do all the Heyers.

Good!
If you know Georgette Heyer, you'll enjoy these dramatisations. They lack detail of course but are lively and fun to listen to. If you don't know Georgette Heyer, do try them because they are a good way in; the social structure in Regency times is quite fascinating. You get a real flavour of the books here with strong performances all round. But each of her books is a delight and I wish I hadn't read them, imagine having all that pleasure to start!! She is brilliant.

Abridged too far
I am not sure if you were not already intimately acquainted with the stories to which these performances relate, it would be sufficient to enable you to understand the story.
The great joys of Georgette Heyer is her plotting and her dialogue. Too much of the former has been lost leaving the latter sitting uncomfortably.

Took me right back to teenage obsession with GH in the 1950s. As much fun as I remembered!

Disappointing
Being a fan of Georgette Heyer over many years, I was looking forward to a BBC dramatization with great excitement. Unfortunately, the books had been so abridged that they were quite spoiled. Regency Buck was virtually unintelligible and for some reason Elizabeth Proud (a really wonderful actress usually) had been instructed to behave like a demented schoolgirl with a squeaky and very irritating voice! The other 2 novels were better but did not stop me being disappointed with what could have been a much better experience.
Could not the audio have been given a couple more hours and included much more of the stories?

Good acting
Subtlety lost in the drastic abridgements. The serial form worked better. The detective novels better fitted to the different format as driven by plot rather than being comedies of manners which rely on the writing for their success
