Summary
Sister Agatha and Father Selwyn make sleuthing a work of art. But will they paint themselves into a corner when they investigate the Village Art Society president's death?
As yuletide settles upon Gwenafwy Abbey, the rural Welsh convent's peace is shattered when Tiffany Reese, president of the Village Art Society, is found dead on the floor of the parish hall. Sister Agatha, whose interests lie more with reading and writing mystery stories than with making the abbey's world-renowned organic gouda, is not shy about inserting herself into the case. With the not-entirely eager assistance of Father Selwyn, she begins her investigation.
Sister Agatha has no shortage of suspects to check off her naughty-or-nice list, until finally, Tiffany's half-brother, Kendrick Geddings, emerges as the prime suspect. There never was any love lost between Tiffany and Kendrick, and of late, they had been locked in a vicious battle for control of the family estate. But if Sister Agatha thinks she has the case wrapped up, she'll have to think again.
As the days of Advent tick by, Sister Agatha is determined to crack the case by Christmas in The Hour of Death, Jane Willan's perfectly puzzling second Sister Agatha and Father Selwyn mystery.

Easy listen
A good story and characters you warm to, but some jarringly awful mistakes from the narrator. Going at it hammer and tongues!!! She said that twice! Don't they listen to these before they publish them??

Not as good as the first one.
I like the main protagonist, Sr Agatha and enjoy hearing about the Welsh way of life. I'm neither British nor American but I agree with many about there being too many "Americanisms" . The plot got really unbelievable towards the end unfortunately. The narrator, excellent in every other way really fell down when doing the American accent, it was really, really bad. I would still read another book in this series though.

Enjoyable but too many americanisms
The story was enjoyable, but it was a shame that the nuns in Wales were made to speak American English and not UK English. Surely a story set in Wales should use the language of the place and not the language of the author.

Alone? Fine. Paired with Book 1? Copy + Paste...
I originally listened to this book (2) first and then went back within the same few days to listen to book 1. When first listening to this one I thought it was decent, albeit a bit repetitive and heavy on name drops of mystery/crime authors and books. There is a strange amount of intensely described food mentioned that made me very hungry... The performance was good and the accents were so enjoyable. However, my main issue with this book arises when you pair it with Book 1. It seems like some passages are just completely copy and pasted. I understand the need to reintroduce some basic info in later books in a series but this is just too much. Its lazy writing and if reading/ listening to them too close together you feel like you're having Deja Vu.. At one point the author is describing in detail a fancy notebook and it is WORD FOR WORD. I just feel like the author could've done better. Side Note: are this nun's only duties praying like once a day, making cheese, and doing some light online book shopping? What does a nun actually do...

Gripping Tale, brilliantly narrated.
