Summary

The chilling thriller from the best-selling author of The Perfect Lie.

A luxury resort. Three missing women. One body.

When young London professional Alex Evans is informed that his sister's body has been pulled from an icy lake in Northern Lapland, he assumes his irresponsible sister accidentally drowned. He travels to the wealthy winter resort where Vicky worked as a tour guide and meets Agatha Koskinen, the detective in charge. Agatha is a no-nonsense single mother of three who already thinks there's more to Vicky's case than meets the eye.

As the two form an unlikely alliance, Alex also begins to suspect the small town where his sister lived and died is harbouring secrets. It's not long before he learns that three other women have gone missing from the area in the past and that his sister may have left him a message.

On the surface, Koppe, Lapland is a winter wonderland. But in this remote, frozen place, death seems only ever a heartbeat away.

Unputdownable

Jo Spain never fails to deliver. A story that moves at good pace and with believable characters. The wonderful snowy setting is the icing on the cake.

Jo Spain does it again

A wonderfully gripping story full of head scratchers and twists like only Jo Spain can do. It had an opening paragraph that sucked me right in and made me keep going until I finished it.
I have also fallen in love with the idea of visiting Lapland.
Highly recommend.

Excellent

What an imagination. I have read or heard all Jo’s books and they are just excellent. This latest does not disappoint, while it’s a long way from where her tales started. It has as all her story’s have the ability to transport the reader to a time and place of her creation.
Thanks Jo.

Good thriller expertly narrated

It’s a good story and the narration is very very good. I tend to not write bad reviews but equally when it’s good I will say so. I’m well over 150 audio books now and the narration becomes very important. This was excellent.

Excellent as ever

Seemed slower to start as the cast of characters were assembled. However, with the wait.

I nearly gave up a quarter of the way through.

Well, that's 11 hours and 58 minutes of my life I'll never get back. I struggled to believe this storyline. The to-ing and fro-ing didn't work. After a few hours, I couldn't have cared less who'd killed who.
Buy another book, this one is boring, very boring.

A little slow and predictable

Started very slowly, both in story and tempo, had to speed it up.

Story well told, if a little predictable. I had guessed the ‘lover’ well before the end! Some characters a little useless really, didn’t see the point of them.

bit boring

just seemed to go through the motions of a very thin plot. there was no chance to gel with any of the characters and it seemed to swing around. the plot location should have added some atmosphere but somehow this author missed it

This could be the best book I have ever read

What a wonderful surprise. This book is set in Finland and has all the Scandi Noir you need plus wonderful story telling. I want to see this as a film or TV series. It is a really good story. I won't give any spoilers. I just recommend this book and I am sad that I have finished it and now have to find another book to read.

...before I forget the narration is just fantastic. Jasmine Backborow - what a narrator!!

Very well done everyone involved in the production of this book.

Excellent

This is very well written, with an intricate and engaging plot. The characters were well developed. The narrator's performance was outstanding. I really enjoyed it.

Waaay Too Long!

This 12-hour audiobook could have easily been a 6-hour book.

I loved Jo Spain's "The Confession" but this title did not meet my lofty expectations.

Narrator Jasmine Blackborow did a fabulous job with the narration but even a 5-star narrator could not save this book.

Incredibly dull

This just bored me so much. There's large parts where nothing happens. Hard to tell the did between some of the character. She doesn't give them distinctive voices. Wasted a credit
