About this listen

The thrilling international bestseller from Holland, now a Netflix Original Series.

It is the dead of night. Sixteen-year-old Tiuri must spend hours locked in a chapel in silent contemplation if he is to be knighted the next day. But as he waits by the light of a flickering candle, he hears a knock at the door and a voice desperately asking for help.

A secret letter must be delivered to King Unauwen across the Great Mountains - a letter upon which the fate of the entire kingdom depends. Tiuri has a vital role to play, one that might cost him his knighthood.

Tiuri's journey will take him through dark, menacing forests, across treacherous rivers, to sinister castles and strange cities. He will encounter evil enemies who would kill to get the letter but also the best of friends in the most unexpected places.

He must trust no one. He must keep his true identity secret. Above all, he must never reveal what is in the letter...

The Letter for the King is the epic story of one boy's battle against evil, set in an enchanted world of chivalry, courage, and true friendship.

An excellent audiobook.

I loved this audiobook. It is much better than the TV series. The narrator also did a great job. I am sure that this is one of those books that I will eventually relisten to.

Great narrative

The narration really brought the characters to life in this story of knights and paladins. I very much enjoyed the audiobook.

really good yarn

dont bother with the film... it really does not capture the heart of the authors work. indeed whilst fun it bares little relationship to the book. this is a tale which is for the young but has something for all of us. the story is well told .. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanks for a wonderfull telling

When I was young, this story was my favorite. Later, I gave my son, the book To listen. The Dutch version. The voice of the actor who told the story, was irritating us so much, that we never listened the story again. Such a shame, it was our most wonderfull book.
How happy I was to find out that there is an English version at audible. Maybe...??!!!
Not disappointed at all. This time the book was told how it should be. The right way, with the right voice, with the right feeling.
So thank you for giving me back this wonderfull story of my youth to listen!!

My favorite childhood book come to life

Loved every second of it.
Really brought me back in touch with my favorite childhood pastime. READING.
As a single mother of two small children under the age of 5, I really don't have the time to read anymore. And I do miss it so.

This was my first audiobook ever and it was a real joy listening to one of my all time favorite stories as a child.

I only have one little note, to the narrator, and that is that I found his tempo a little to fast. But luckily this was easily adjusted in the speed setting. Other than that I really enjoyed the narrator's different voices and the feeling that the narrator knew my beloved Tiuri personally and was telling me his story.

One of my favourite ever books, with an incredible narration by Matt Addis

I have read this book many times, and I often find that when I listen to the audio version of books that I love that the narration never quite lives up to how I had imagined it would. However, that could not be further from the case with The Letter For The King - Matt Addis has fast become one of my very favourite narrators, and he does full justice to this beautiful story. I really could not recommend it more - for children, teenagers and adults alike! A beautiful story, beautifully read. I'm just sad to have finished it - and very glad there is a sequel!

Great narrator

Good story.

Great narrator! there were point I forgot it wasnt a cast and was just one narrator.

The only negative I have is that it was slightly predictable in places and there was a bit of a cringe exposition drop but overall worthy of a listen every couple of years.

The start of an epic trail

A good fun book. Written for a younger audience but it can be enjoyed by everyone. A classic tale which is fun

I don't mean this in a bad way, but its like a diet coke version of Lord of the rings. Less ramble and magic, but still the fellowship and peril

Great narration who brings the many characters to life and keeps it interesting

Excellent

Fantastic story and very well read. Matt Addis did a great job, but really got into his stride towards the end of the book. Only thing is that he could have committed more in moments of anger (shouting etc). Really enjoyable!
