A masterpiece
I listened to this audiobook in a single day - I can't remember the last time I heard one which was so compelling and well-performed. Claire Allan writes with heart-wrenching authenticity: the situation is all-too-believable, as are all the characters' responses to it. She writes with a compassionate authority, and while writing about behaviour which has been much-covered both in fiction and factual media, never once does she lapse into cliche or predictability. The tension is sustained to the very end.
The dialogue is utterly convincing and natural, thanks to the impressive skills of both writer and narrators. I now feel impatient to read and/or listen to Claire Allen's next work. I'd give this one a score of six stars all round, if I could.

I couldn't stop listening
The Liar's Daughter is fantastic, a great story is brought to life by wonderful narrators.
There are emotional scenes which will bring a tear to your eyes.
I can't wait to listen to her other books.

Unforgettable
What a brave and powerful story. A difficult subject matter, dealt with with delicate respect and raw bluntness. I felt every emotion and the characters were so real, I knew them. Narration is great. I loved listening to the familiar lilts of my own accent. Twists and turns and sprinkles of humour throughout a dramatic a dark narrative. Loved it.

Such raw emotions
Considering there were not many charecters in this book it totally gripped me, I couldn't stop listening. This would make a brilliant TV mini series. It would make others come forward (without giving to much away.) Written & narrated Superbly.

A 6* book
Beautifully written, beautifully narrated. It feels wrong to say good things about this devastating, distressing and harrowing book. At times I realised I was actually crying. The book is so deep and very emotional. I loved so many of the well drawn characters, they were all so real (both the good and the bad) and I cared so deeply about many of them! I will miss them and don’t want to let them go. Just brilliant. Thank you to both the author and narrators.

Brilliant! Well written and well performed. Tense, exciting, emotional and kept guessing!!!
Lovely to hear it all in the Derry setting too. I just love Claire Allan’s books!!

In these days of 'Me too' this seemed ridiculous
I really struggled to keep listening and could not get beyond chapter 10 before skipping to the end. No surprise there, just more whining and misery from a family who lost their brother/father//uncle/ husband and mourned his passing. You know from the start that he was an evil man and it quickly becomes apparent that every member of his family had suffered at this hands - but although we are privy to their pain and anguish, they never tell each other!!! Is it the 'Irish guilt' that keeps them silent because honestly, this level of secrecy is beyond me. Somehow, I became angry with all of them and there is little point in continuing to read or listen when all sympathy is gone ..... So I gave up!!
