Summary

Sexy and comfortable...can you really have both?

From the Sunday Times best-selling author of Just My Luck and Both of You, this is a gripping novel about two very different sisters which asks: is there such a thing as a perfect life or the perfect love?

The Evergreen sisters have always been opposites.

Martha is married and has the perfect home and family. Eliza rents a drab one-bedroom flat, which she shares with her sexy but hapless boyfriend.

Until, one day, Eliza walks out on him, the very same day that Martha's husband walks out on her. Suddenly, the Evergreen sisters are united by separation.

Eliza is free to pursue the relationship she's always wanted, one that offers stability and security. Martha falls into a relationship that she could never have imagined; it's crazy and carefree.

Can they find happiness dashing down these new paths? Or does chasing love only get more complicated when you're running in another woman's shoes?

Disappointed

This just never got off the ground for me. It was dull and pointless. Couldn’t wait for the end.

Another Adele Parks Winner

Whilst there are no great surprises in this book I found the characters excellent and the story funny, heart warming and a lovely pace. Narrator was excellent. Also made me nostalgic for early 2000s life in London!

A bit boring

Story was OK. Had a nice ending, but I had to speed it up for the last quarter as I just couldn't concentrate any more. A bit too descriptive and the sex scenes got a bit tedious. I usually find Adele Parks books quite engrossing with lots of twists, but this was quite wishy washy. A nice listen but easily forgettable.

Glad it was over

Quite predictable, the narrator struggled to give personality to the characters, all the family members all had the same voice. I think this would have been a different book if I’d read it instead of listened to it.

Predictable and safe

was OK for a listen but nothing special. no gripping moments no twists or turns. some raunchiness put in just for shock factor at times. the male voice was very cringy 😬

Bad practice!

I never write reviews but just had to with this story - I bought it in all good faith thinking it was a recently written novel - I had just finished 'One last secret' which was excellent and as this novel ( The other woman's shoes) was dated September 2021 I felt confident it was worth a read as it was a recent one - I don't usually buy books if written ten years ago which this one was, as I always feel an author grows with each novel and sometimes the really old ones turn out to be a bit naive or simple and later ones are much more accomplished.
I almost thought this was a spoof author as the writing was just dire - pure chic lit and terrible narrator. I realise now if I go on to Amazon I can find out the original publishing date and then avoid the early books.

Tried to return this but told I can't even though I'm only 3hrs in so I'm not happy.

So disappointing!

Usually l love Adele Parks’ books, but this one was so slow and l just didn’t warm to the main characters at all. I’m currently part way through Both of You and it is brilliant!

Awful

I judge myself for sitting through this book. I have never wished for an unhappy ending but for these two characters, I did. I can't decide whether Martha was more let down by the terrible, utterly predictable writing or the infuriating performance which just made her one of the most annoying characters to have ever existed. By far the worst thing about this book though was the so-called erotic descriptions. They turned my stomach. Do what I should have done and choose something, anything else.
