Summary

Day by day, the sentient planet is learning to recognize and understand the meaning of outside stimuli, to communicate its own needs and desires...even to use human speech. The Petaybeans have their hands full trying to protect their beloved planet from the sudden influx of tourists. Then some of Petaybee's staunchest champions are kidnapped.

Not an inspired performance, a wasted credit

Having read the Petaybee books some 15 years ago I thought it nice to hear the story again while being on holiday.
It was not a good revisit to a great story. The abbreviation was done badly, so most of the characters fell flat and the involvements between the protagonists were not easy to understand.
The performance was more of a loud reading of a story than the usual set of characters spoken with different voice tones.
Not a book I would ever to listen again

Good book narration could be better

This a subjective review, I know the books having read them years and years ago, and the story is great. I don't know why but could not engage with the narrator of the audio book, not that it was poor but just didn't get on with the voice. I would try and find a version narrated by a different person

Great combination

I have really enjoyed the Petyabee planet sequence of stories. Marina Sirtis has a great voice one can enjoy awake, or listen to soothe away the overactive brain and find rest (when you know the story that well it's easy). I really enjoyed this . Unlike planet pirates the continuity works best especially with the character similarities. I recommend you at least try the sample :) I bought the whole trio :) shame there's the twins trio of books not yet sorted on audio.

Much loved book not given its due

One of my favourite series of AM books but I didn’t realise that it was abridged. That aside it’s a weird voice used by Marina Sirtis. A strange Irish and sometimes American accent; very little differentiation in voices. Do you need to concentrate. Aiofe should be pronounce Eee-fuh not I-o-fee etc

abridged so badly

I read the books and loved the story and when I saw this audio version I though great! But this version has massive important chunks of story missing, completely ruining the narrative.

Badly abridged

I read the books years ago and was at first confused, then disappointed by this version.
