Terrible accents and a little harsh on the ear

I have enjoyed the series however there are two points that have grated through the narration:

1) the narrator has a very harsh voice on the ear, she is unable to do accents and can be very stilted when reading out, to the detriment of the characters.

2) the writer has a very peculiar take on English customs, the language used to portray English characters and has obviously just done a very basic read up from an internet page that held dubious content. I won’t go into how she dealt with the no gun policy...

Her style is easy lostening

A+ apart from the English accents.

Loved these books.
But, one of the worse English accents I have ever heard! practice definitely needed.

Not to be taken too seriously

Whilst I agree with the scathing review I have to admit to enjoying these series. Yes unrealistic and simplistic but good fun too and the characters are well drawn if a bit too stereotypical. It’s really more chick lit than crime fiction but it keeps me entertained.

Definitely an acquired taste...

If you like pure make-believe with little-to-no research or basis in reality while indulging in the main character's simplistic internal prattling about her insecurities without any tangible thread throughout the 'character development', this book is for you.

While the story moves along at a quick pace, and he characters are likeable, these books are riddled with poor research. Book 3, werewolves in London, is an absolute atrocity and makes a mockery of British culture and language. Also, naming the British-Indian doctor "Doctor Curry" is downright offensive.

This isn't helped by the fact that the narrator utterly fails at accents, although that doesn't stop her from trying. At one point I had to stop listening because I was crying with laughter. She does a passable New York and Boston accent, but her British, French and South American attempts are hard to take seriously. Again, the Indian accent is just plain offensive.

As my husband remarked upon me playing a snippet for him: "Nice to see that the author of 'Belinda Blinked' has branched out to American crime fiction".

Wasted my credit

This book is the reason why it took me so long to get auditable. The narration was robotic, characters sounded pathetic and storyline really really bad. I wasted my credit on this box set!!!

So poor

I have listened to over a 100 audiobooks and this must be the worst.
Poor sometimes laughable narration and story lines a amateur could write. I purchased the 6 book set and will never start number two unless I am stranded on an island with no other contact. Even then it might be easier to take my life

Narrator problem

I thought this was going to be a bargain, 62 hours for 1 credit but sadly not. Every time I started to listen the tone of the narrators voice put me off, so after 4 hours I’ve given up. The storyline sounded good though so it’s a shame

Accents are so terrible and some or research on London

The terrible accents were so off-putting. In the UK, we don’t finish every sentence with mate and London Fog is not a thing.
The story is obscured by the presenter but good series.
