Summary

From childhood on, something or Someone has called us on a journey of the heart. It is a journey full of intimacy, adventure, beauty, and more than a little danger. The Sacred Romance calls to us in our fondest memories, our greatest loves, our noblest achievements, even our deepest hurts. The reward is worth the risk. God Himself longs for us, if we are but willing.

First published in 1997, The Sacred Romance is quietly on its way to becoming a classic. Why have so many people connected so powerfully to the book? Authors Brent Curtis and John Eldredge put words to long-forgotten feelings. They voice our unspoken fears about God's goodness and our own emptiness. Without being preachy or cliche, the authors offer a glimpse of God's heart that is tender, risky, and compelling. The Sacred Romance is the story of our lives; it is God's story. It is His invitation to experience the beauty, intimacy, and adventure we secretly desire.

Wild & wonderful - how & why God loves us

I had previously read all of John Eldredge's other books, so I was familiar with many of the ideas contained in this one. But I have been struck anew by this book's message of God's love and specifically its intensity and its purpose. The authors write with immense wisdom, with a gentleness that still conveys God's sovereignty & power. I love the way they incorporate passages of Scripture to add weight to the points they are making. Hopefully everyone who gives this book a go will be wooed into seeking out more of this majestic, mysterious but still knowable God. The narrator is first-class!
