Now a Hallmark Channel Original Movie
Love is like a perfect recipe...you never want to lose it.
Years ago, Kelly McIntyre and Andrew York were engaged and dreaming of opening a restaurant together. Then he chose an opportunity to study in Paris over the small-town life they’d planned, and their romance came to a bittersweet end.
But Kelly’s doing fine. She’s not only the owner of a potbellied pig named Gray, but also of her own bakery. Business is good - so good that she’s invited to compete in a Valentine’s Day bake-off. As she prepares for the contest, she tries not to get distracted by Andrew’s visit to town.
When Andrew sees Kelly, it stirs up his old feelings. Little does he know that soon, in New York, he’ll compete against her in the bake-off...and they’ll both realize how much their past is a part of them still.
This irresistible romance includes a free Hallmark original recipe for Honey Almond Cake with Berries and Mascarpone Crème Fraiche.

In love with every part of this book!
As a lover of Hallmark movies, I quickly bought this book, and really enjoyed it!
The story is set in a small town, and is about second chances. Andrew and Kelly had plans to marry, but Andrew was offered a scholarship in Paris, to learn the art of Pastry and Baking, that he couldn't turn down. With plans to return, Andrew heads off, but doesn't come home for 7 years.
Kelly is still in their small town and now has her own bakery, when Andrew comes home, seven years later, for a short trip. She is still hurt and upset with him. They both get a opportunity to do a bake off competition, but they can't say a word about it. Little do they both know, they will end up at the same place, in NYC.
I loved the characters in this story, and all the small town vibes. The story kept me interested, and had the perfect ending.

A Baker’s Delight
This author penned one sweet storyline! The narrator’s performance was consistently delightful. What I appreciated most was the crafting of a solid, intelligent storyline filled with imagery, realistic characterization and words, not profane language, violence or innuendo. I give this book an ‘A’ rating for ‘Actually Artistic’.

Disappointed by an author I usually love
I really like this author and as soon as I saw that this book was coming soon it immediately went on my wish list. I read the blurb and thought it was sweet, but something kept me from buying. I am not sure what, but I eventually caved and bought the audio book. The narration was good, but as a born and bred New Yorker can honestly say that the “accents” were just ridiculous, over the top and a little bit offensive, though I loved the diner owner and her husband! Absolutely adorable, but I have lived in NYC my entire life and never heard anyone who sounds like they did. Okay, back to the heart of the book. Kelly and Andrew meet in high school, fall in love, make promises together for the rest of their lives and in one phone call Andrew thoughtlessly and callously ditches it all. Basically his way of breaking her heart could have only been worse had he done it by text or post-it. Yes, they were young and he had a wonderful opportunity and I am glad for him he took it, but the way he ended his relationship with Kelly was detestable, immature and the most chicken hearted thing he could have done. Yes, Kelly was a small town young woman who was probably afraid to leave her very safe, loved and comfortable world, but he knew that. She was tremendously supportive of the wonderful chance he received to study abroad, but his promise to return made her loneliness worth it so they could live out the dreams they had planned together. When he called and told her he was staying and was shocked she would not join him all I could think was he was a bigger liar and idiot than I previously thought and she deserved so much better. Flash forward and Kelly is successful beyond all comprehension. She built a fabulous business, that she adores and has such deep passion for as well as helped to bring new energy to her town as well as greatly needed jobs. She is a wonderful and caring boss, friend and daughter. I know this is a book and of course there needs to be a happily ever after, that I wanted for Kelly, but not with Andrew. I understand her forgiving him. Forgiveness is for the wronged and not the one who did the hurting. If they happen to benefit from it great, but it really is for the person who was the injured party. Carrying around the hurt and anger for it rots you from the inside. Andrew did not deserve the forgiveness of being let off the hook. I cannot imagine a single actual human being willing to let him back into their life in any way other than as someone they used to know. What rational person could ever trust him again? Nope, scorched earth. I did not like him and did not believe he deserved her kindness. He is a liar, untrustworthy and certainly not a good person. A good chef, yes. A decent and trustworthy person not even a little bit. I know it is a romance book, but for once I would like to read abut a woman standing up for herself and not just stand there and take it on the chin. This book just annoyed me on many levels and unless you can suspend all reality and accept a woman being treated badly and forgiving like nothing happened “lets put all in the past” then read away. If you cant then do not waste your credit like I did. I should have gone with my gut and not read. I am surprised at all of the 5 start reviews. Really?? I gave 2 stars as I really do like the author so give a little extra credit.

Sweet Romance!
I truly loved this book, a refreshing, sweet romance of Kelly and Andrew, young, in love, both and sharing a passion for making recipes from scratch. The two were working as a waitress and short-order cook in Kelly's parents small town cafe. Life events and long distant opportunities interfered with the young couple's plans for marriage.
After seven years of being apart, Andrew, now a successful pastry chef, returns to visit his hometown. Kelly now is successful also, and owns her own bakery and cake factory. Old feelings, regrets, and hurts return for both when they once again meet. A series of tense and funny events including a potbelly pet pig, and invitation to enter a TV cook off competition, eventually lead to a sweet, wonderful ending for both Kelly and Andrew.
