Summary

They only come when it snows, and nobody ever gets away.

A group of close friends gathers at a secluded cabin in the wintry mountains of Colorado for a final holiday hurrah. Instead, it may be their last stand. First a massive blizzard leaves them marooned. Then the more chilling realization: Something is lurking in the woods, watching them, waiting....

Now a weekend of family, friends, and fun has turned into a test of love and loyalty in the face of inhuman horrors. The only hope for those huddled inside is to fight - tooth and nail, bullet and blade - for their lives. Otherwise, they’ll end up like the monsters’ other victims: bright pools of blood on glittering snow, screams lost in the vast mountains.

Eagerly anticipating the demise of the characters!

I'm more than half way through so I'm past the point of no return. It's a competent but dull and unoriginal story. Another book with a completely unlikable cast of irritating, vapid Millennial characters (Even the dog appears to be a moron). I haven't enjoyed the ride at all so far but I'm prepared to stick with it, if only to see how all these dimwits perish. That at least offers me some enjoyable anticipation. I hope their ends are suitably gory and imminent from my current bookmark. I'm really rooting for the Monsters in this one. Be back soon!

4 hourrrs lateeerr! OK, I suffered through to the end. My empathy for these characters never did materialize. From the Whiny sniveling, weak Sister to the dumb Jock Brother, not one of them were even remotely likeable. I'm Amazed that a Lady author would create such sappy, stereotypical female characters. The story was slow and lacked any real sense of menace. The only factor that made this a survival story rather than an immediate massacre, was that the Monsters were just as stupid and insipid as our titular heroes. The only ending that would have really satisfied me would have been the impact of an planet killing Asteroid to blast the entire ensemble to smithereens 3 hours ago.

I simply do not understand how anyone found this drivel thrilling, or could give it anything other than a mediocre "Meh" of a review. Oh well, better have a fix of HP Lovecraft to renew my faith in literature. Absolute garbage!

Disappointing

Starts off slow, with weak female leads and aggravatingly insipid males with the emotional depth of a Petri dish. It picks up as the story gets more interesting, but then the story just…stops? Just no. Returning it.

Had so much potential

The general storyline of this is great, it has creepy parts and some gross parts. The thing that lets it down is the character interactions. There’s a lot of petty arguments and pointless bitchiness, which really spoils the book, in my opinion. I ended up wanting all of them to just die, so that I wouldn’t have to listen to their ridiculous prose anymore.

not gripping enough

The premises of the book was good but the writing fell short. it takes too long to get into what's happening and then before you know it, it's all over too fast. A few good scenes towards the end and a couple of added stories in between but the main story spent too long on character relations (or not long enough with Ryan and lauren). narration was great though.

Beautifully written tale of terror

This was the first book I have read by this author and I was blown away! The writing is first class and the plot was awesome. It played out just like a horror movie in my mind. I’m now off to read everything else by this author !!

Love Ania’s books

This was the first book of Ania’s that I have read. It creates such a vivid picture in your head you feel like you have seen a movie.

Very Entertaining

I love every minute of this. Great characters and rip roaring pace. The narration was poised and comfortable.
I think this is the first book I have listened to all the way through for a long time.
It delivers!
