Summary

When her friends from the Tuesday Night Club visit Miss Marple's house, the conversation often turns to unsolved crimes. Trying to solve these 13 mysteries are Raymond West, a young writer; the artist Joyce Lemprière; Dr Pender, the clergyman, who claims to know the hidden side of human character; Mr Petherick, a lawyer who is only interested in the logical approach; and Sir Henry Clithering, whose experience as commissioner of Scotland Yard speaks for itself. Then, of course, there is Miss Marple, who has observed enough about human nature to be more than a match for the most perspicacious investigator.

"The plots are so good that one marvels...most of them would have made a full-length thriller." (Daily Mirror)

The Thirteen Problems

Highly entertaining Miss Marple book with a whole range of diverse problems being presented for Miss Marple (and the listener) to attempt to solve...although however diverse the problems might be they obviously have their solution in village life!

More like The Nine Problems...

I loved the stories. The only problem was that the last four stories were the same as the first four. Disappointed as I was looking forward to more great stories from Agatha Christie.

Easy bite size stories - great for a commute, or to listen to while cooking dinner

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Thirteen Problems?

Wrapped up nicely at the end with all that we had learned about Miss Marple being put into play

Wonderful book, annoying formatting

I would have given 5 stars but for the fact that there aren't proper chapter endings which is down to you.

Some issues with narration and recording

I love Joan Hickson as the narrator and the actress, however in places she accelerates the speed of her narration and starts talking in a rather bored monotonous way which does not help comprehension. I wish also there was a sufficient pause between stories with some indication that one story has fnished and another one started. As it is now, all stories are read in one continuous way without a pause and it is very confusing to know whether you are listening to the new story or the previous one.
